Halo Combat Evolve Anniversary Bugs

Concerning the HALO CEA standalone game there are 3 big bugs that are making me quite angry:

1. Progress
The game itself and Waypoint (Service Record) are telling me I haven’t played the campaign either in Coop nor Solo but which I clearly have.
2. Kinect
I bought myself a Kinect device for the Xbox One just to analyze objects to get 45 out of 45 on my Halo CEA Service Record.
Turns out that the Kinect functions do not work for Xbox One. With other words it was a total waste of money.
3. Skulls and Terminals
I have collected all Skulls and Terminals and got the achievements but the game itself and Waypoint (Service Record) haven’t registered this.
It seems to me that this error occurs if you do not play the Halo CEA through in one piece (without using save and quit in between)
respectively the game and Waypoint stop to register after save and quit OR what else can happen is that the game and Waypoint simply reset everything.

I honestly would like to have a bug fix to all of this.
The game is already part of TMCC but you know what? This game is also full of bugs!
How about erasing all errors before starting new projects.
Halo is a big title and no indie game.
It seriously frustrates me to see how old games with major errors are being treated.
As for TMCC I really doubt 343i will manage to satisfy their fans. Not by selling buggy games which never experience a total fix.

Hey OP, can help you with some things here but for others might need a bit more info

The stand alone version of CEA (released for the Xbox 360) doesn’t have a visible service record on Waypoint, at least none that I am aware of, so that’s why there won’t be any service record info here to view.

As for in-game records - I see that you mentioned you are playing on Xbox One, I’m guessing you’re playing the backwards compatible version? Are you using the same account on the Xbox One that you used on your Xbox 360 and was that account connected to Xbox Live while you were playing? If you have changed gaamertags or accounts at any point that’s why your stuff wouldn’t show up.

This one isn’t really a Halo issue, more a Microsoft issue as no Xbox 360 Kinect game or accessory will work on the Xbox One.

Same as I mentioned above about gamertags / accounts

Wouldn’t we all. In a perfect world we wouldn’t have bugs, but the reality is that it’s just impossible to catch everything. As a developer myself it would amaze you how so many things can slip passed even rigorous QA due to seriously weird edge cases.

Not sure if you seen this or not, but MCC is in the process of being fixed. You can red more in the latest dev blog
https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/mcc-development-update-2One thing did occur to me after wiring this, as I know you’ve been playing MCC on the X1. Your progress in MCC doesn’t count towards the stand alone Xbox 360 version as they are 2 separate games.

Hello and thank you for your reply. I didn’t expect someone important to answer and especially not so fast. So thanks again.

  1. Yes, I my gamertag / account has never changed. I’m using the same ever since and the Xbox is/was connected to the internet.
  2. This is sad. Backwards compatibility is great, honestly. But I think people seriously presume (Or maybe I’m the only one) that special functions of the game (Kinect and 3D) should be working just as well as it did on 360. So if Microsoft is responsible for this then I don’t understand why something so obvious wasn’t considered. Or maybe they just didn’t care about it. I don’t know. But I would really really like to ask someone about this issue.
  3. Yes, there is a progress view for Halo CEA on waypoint.com (Service Record - Select game Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary - View your progress (Achievements, Solo Campaign, Co-op Campaign, Found Skulls, Found Terminals, Analyzed Objects).
  4. Even though I never saw game developers work I can image how exhausting it is due to a lot rumors but also few articles I read. The amount of knowledge which is needed to develop games is also huge not to be underestimated.
Anyway, I believe the reason for this is that there is far to much pressure being out on developers trying to bring out games as fast as possible. If errors are still present even close before release I also believe that these are being deliberately accepted. And this is something I do not think is right.
TMCC showed us all how it’s not to be done and even after 4 years big bug fixes are still an issue. This is marketing gone completely wrong. And I bet that another reason for this is probably that there are too many projects running at the same time at the limit of personal capacity which is never good.
I would rather wait 2 years more and get a better game than the way it is now and… yeah you can see the results.

That’s interesting about CEA stats. I guess I never noticed them in dropdowns before because you’re not allowed to view another players CEA stats.

> ACCESS TO THIS RECORD IS RESTRICTED FOR ALL SECURITY LEVELS
> We’re sorry, access to other users’ service records is not supported for this title.

Not sure why your progress wouldn’t sync though. Only thing I can think of off-hand would be if you had access an Xbox 360 - make sure any games are saved to the cloud storage

Strange. Why should access to Halo CEA stats of others not be granted? Works fine for the other Halo titles so why not CEA?
.
Anyway, I am surprised the game and the Waypoint stats have registered my progress and also not reseted themselves.
I played HALO CEA on Solo Legendary on Xbox One and collected all skulls and terminals.
So next will be to play on Coop but the interesting thing will be to test it on 360 to analyze the objects. I expect another error to happen and lose my stats again as soon as I start the game on the 360.
Cloud sync is always being done when starting the game on the Xbox One by the why.

Well, it’s actually just as I thought.
I played CEA on the 360 with Kinect and analyzed all objects. Waypoint registered everything fine except for the delays that sometimes occurred. I then played the game on the Xbox One and bam! Everything gone again. Absolutely frustrating. Next thing was I tried to get 10/10 co-op Legendary. Paused the game half way through and started next day with my mate. I then noticed that waypoint forgot about the first 5 levels we both played and told me I have only played the last 5 after we were done. This seriously sucks. But what sucks most is that this isn’t being fixed.
