What’s your opinion on Halo clans? When I first joined one I thought of making new friends,getting more experience and all that fun stuff.
Of the ones that tried to recruit me, they either took things way too seriously or dragged me down in some annoying way so I decided to remain solo.
I don’t really like the clans that try to be all military. Some of them literally take it seriously like their life depends on it.
I’m cool with “clans” or should I say groups that’s just join up to have some fun.
So, I’ll rather freelance and go on my own. Not the best move but, that’s my way of playing.
Like others said, I’ve noticed lots of these being taken way too seriously. I guess some people don’t have anything better to do with their lives. As for me, I play Halo with a few friends that I’ve known for a long time. We have a Spartan Company but it’s only because one of them said “I heard you get something for making a Spartan Company! Let’s make one and call it Matt Damon because Matt Damon!” Of course, he soon realized that we won’t be getting Achilles but we still kept the company around, out of pure bureaucratic inertia. So it’s not like I needed to join a “clan” to find people to play Halo with, but I can understand why people do.
I, too, see too many issues of the “too serious” thing. This, backed up by limited control or simple naivete, leads to things getting…messy, inevitably.
Not to mention the amount of life energy that some people pour into them, the seriousness with which they discuss things that happen in an artificial world and don’t actually effect real life (though in some cases I have heard that they DO, with too-far-gone-to-save members of some literally trying to hack people or call the cops on them somehow)…it boggles my mind.
Personally I try to avoid them because I kind of have a life, and I cant simply drop everything that’s going on and go join a raid or whatever it is that clan people do. And I mostly play for fun, not to stroke my electronic ego, like many clanners seem to do. That…and most dont know the lore, something I adore. If you can’t tell me what happened at the Battle of Psi Serpentus I’m not interested.
Some Spartan compies just want you to stay active and Play Halo. I think you aren’t giving credit to the Spartans who love playing Halo. SEMPERGUMBY has quite a few Spartans that simply just play the game.
