Halo CEA weapons in the Anniversary maps

The maps bundled with Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary are remakes updated for Reach of classic maps. Now, I think this presents a cool opportunity: to include some weapons from the main campaign, virtually uneditied, to Reach.
These would only be availible in these maps, much how the Fuel Rod Cannon was availible in a select few Halo 3 maps, and would include some new tactics and gameplay challenges. For example, the MA5B from Halo CEA would seem to function much like an LMG mixed with an SMG; great at close range, a suppression weapon for longer ranges. Reach weapons are meant to be refined into combat roles, and some of these weapons can just add to the mix further.
And if they’re too unbalanced, then make them Forge and Customs only, exactly like the H3 era Fuel Rod.
They have the code, they have the models, and a similiar situation has happened before. I think it would be a simple, yet very cool scenario filled ot the brim with nostalgia.

TL;DR
Weapons from CEA make it to the Anniversary maps for Reach to add to the mix.

Id love to see the classic AR back, especially if they gave us the 60 round mag so i wouldnt have to reload all the time.

Replace all the Reach weapons with HCE weapons and you already have a much better game lol.

This would win me over on the decision not to include classic Combat Evolved multiplayer. Weapons are honestly the main reason I wanted that multiplayer back. Putting them JUST on the Anniversary disc and not in the download add-on for Reach would be cool, too. Then give Anniversary players an extra playlist or two that Reach players can’t see.

lovin this idea!

Maybe call it the Forerunner playlist, or some other cheesy yet soothing name.
Faeturing the Anniversary Maps, a revamped Forge World and Tempest (which are both on Halo as well, so just to make the maps more varied) including the new (well, old) weapons, possibly alongisde all of Reach’s as well to make a truly awesome arsenal for all different play types. I would buy the game just for this, let alone the remastered campaign.

true, very true. id also love to see some forged tempest maps. for me, forging on tempest is usually more fun than on forge world.

I support and need this idea

They might add a few CE weapons, but i doubt they will change the entire reach armory.

As much as I’d love to see this, 343i would have to remake these guns specifically for Halo Reach. As many others point out, Halo CE:A is only Halo CE with a graphics layer on top, and a few extra minor additions.

I highly doubt that the two engines would be compatible enough for them to transfer the weapons like that.

However, if it’s possible…I would love this.

They don’t have to transfer anything; just emulate. They’re already emulating Combat Evolved multiplayer as much as possible with the upcoming patch and Spark map pack. Why not emulate further by adding new weapons to just these maps and in just one game (not Reach)? It’s entirely possible, as each map has its own individual object palette (hence why most maps are so limited in Forge). That is, some maps literally can’t feature, for example, a Wraith, while other maps can. And remember how Avalanche in Halo 3 featured reskinned vehicles exclusive to that map? How Sandbox featured some brand new building blocks that weren’t in Halo 3 before? They specifically created them for those maps.

Granted, those were a bit different. Creating new weapons for Anniversary wouldn’t be a simple reskin of an asset previously in Reach. You could probably take the meshes and textures directly from Anniversary’s campaign and put them into Reach, but then you’d also have to make a few new animations in both first and third person. For example, how would a melee look with a Combat Evolved shotgun? You probably could take that from Reach, though, without much issue. And seeing as every weapon from Combat Evolved is in Reach to some capacity, it wouldn’t be as arduous as creating entire new weapons. A few weapons would need a reskin (Assault Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun, to name a few), but most of my concern is about how the weapons behave.

That’s where emulation comes in. They’re not directly ripping the weapon stats from Combat Evolved, so they would have to do their best to edit, for example, number of shots per clip, and weapon damage. That brings up another issue entirely, though, and a reason that this probably won’t happen that I hadn’t thought of. Emulating the Combat Evolved arsenal means the rebirth of the Pistol to a certain capacity. Frankie has already cited that as a reason for not bringing that multiplayer back. And I don’t see how, even with emulation, they could nail something even close to Combat Evolved’s weapon balance. Maybe I’m wrong. But regardless, it would still be nice to at least see a few classic weapon reskins a la Halo 3’s Avalanche vehicles.

It sucks that you always have to reload dude. LOL. Proves that you spray with the AR then doesn’t it?

Yes, and bring back the BR. Sadly, that wont happen.
