Hows it going everyone? First off I don’t mean to bash this game too hard but really want to know what some of the classic Halo players views on this game are. Personally Halo:CE was the first shooter I actually played obsessively and had a legitimate addiction to. So when I heard that they were releasing a remake to this of course I was excited beyond belief, finally they are bringing arguably the best of the Halo series to the next gen. But after seeing what this is and lets be honest its a map pack, I don’t have that excitement anymore. Reach is an okay game at best (regarding the Halo franchise), I understand that as as developer to try and push the envelope of a franchise but Reach to me strayed away and didn’t suck me in like Halo 2 and 3. The multiplayer was mediocre due to equipment load outs, bloom has no place in a Halo game, and honestly the maps are pretty bad which is why most of the popular ones are Halo 2 forges. So to try and fuse Halo:CE to Reach is in my mind despicable. Halo:CE was unique more because of game style and Reach’s mp just isn’t the same. Hell I would rather them just put the Halo 2 servers back up and charge me $40 instead of messing with a classic. Anyways that’s my opinion let me know what you guys think and please lets try and keep it anti-flame.
Multiplayer != EVERYTHING, you know? Aren’t you excited for the remastered campaign with HD graphics, 3D support, re-recorded soundtrack, skulls, achievements, terminals? See it this way: anniversary campaign gets a remake. As the icing on the cake, you get a mappack with custom Anniversary gameplay settings for FREE with it.

well not exactly for free, If you break it down its 20 for the maps. and 20 for the actual game.

> You are aware of a TU that makes it play almost identical to CE, right?
Not really. But it is much, much closer than default Reach. It feels like a “blend” of the older Halo games, and that’s good. And it’s for that reason that I’ll be returning to Halo.

Considering your hate for Reach and The Crystal Skull, pretty sure you just can’t deal with change. The campaign doesn’t play like Reach and you could always boot up Halo 3 for a more classic multiplayer. You have options.

This is how I see it. I would have gladly payed £30 just for the Campaign.
I’d gladly pay 40 for just the campaign. Heck if they redid halo 2, JUST the campaign, with some super hi quality game engine(not a previous halo engine) just the graphics and sound like they did for CEA id even pay the full 60 for it. =) I like halo 2’s campaign better than CE’s campaign personally. =)
Thanks for the replies and yeah I am excited about the campaign but really what i was hoping for was that magical laggy experience you got when you hopped on xbox connect and tried to find a game. The campaign was good and I really have nothing bad to say about it. But what got me hooked and what i think hooked a lot of people is that halo 1 xbox connect/LAN gaming. I did jump on and play some of the TU beta playlist and it was okay I definitely had more fun playing Halo Reach then I have had previously, but it’s still just not the same. Also by the Indy IV reference I was referring more to them bringing back a classic and then just molesting my childhood memories lol.
If anything, I’d say that Reach was the Indy IV of Halo. Sure, Anniversary could have been a bit more fan service-y, but overall I think we’re being treated okay by 343i.
