I have two questions for everyone today regarding Halo CE.A’s graphical change.
In the new demo, it states that the game is actually running two graphic engines at once. SO, would this allow two people on the same Xbox playing co-op to use both of the engines at once?
(I.e: one playing classic, one playing the modern version at the same time via split screen)
What mode would everyone here at Waypoint be interested in using the most?
I’ve played the old one. I’ll play this one probably bouncing back and forth for just to see how well it was done. But as much as I love nostalgia, I’ll probably be using the newer look more.

Ditto! I want to see how much it’s improved so I’ll play a bit in the Classic then bounce to Modern. But from the bit we’ve seen, I like the Modern look so far…

I can see myself doing this. First play will involve all new graphics. Second play will probably be an exploration of the game to see what it used to look like, and how it looks now.
I’ve played the original more than enough over the years, originally on a friends xbox, on PC and through backwards compatibility on my 360. I can picture/recall the look of the original campaign pretty well, so while i’ll probably test out the transition itself to see how THAT works, I’ll be more interested in “what’s new”.
I see no reason why they’re including the classic engine; I mean, from a programming standpoint, why unnecessarily tax the CPU? Certainly, the developers could use these extra ‘ounces’ of processor to maybe … oh, I dunno… on making it look even better? Perhaps, more FPS? Don’t get me wrong, I’m fine with the updated graphics they’re adding, but I just don’t think they need to include an engine that is rarely going to be used. If people want that experience, buy it on disc or GoD.

That engine is running anyway because they are using it for physics ect ect.

To answer your question no one truly knows…theyve never showed off split-screen doing this. Over live I can see it happening but that doesnt mean it will
I’m pretty sure that you can have one player using the old engine and the other the new engine in split-screen. From a technical viewpoints, there’s really nothing I can think of that speaks against it.
And I will be using both about equally, maybe the new engine a bit more.
Modern, because it’s basically just a prettier version of the Classic. It keeps the classic gameplay but with updated graphics. Sure, I might switch back to classic mode for nostalgia, but modern is the way to go.
