There are multiple parts in the game where Foehammer will bring you extra marines to fight with, or a warthog to drive. Where are they coming from? The only UNSC ship in the area was the Pillar of Autumn, and that was evacuated and made a crash landing. Are they using it as a base? If so how did Captain Keys manage to get captured yet there is a sizable force in that same location? Perhaps there is an off-screen FOB that holds all surviving marines and equipment that is just never mentioned.

I recommend reading Halo the flood. It answers all your questions.

According to the novelization, that’s exactly the case.
In Fireteam Raven, there’s a makeshift UNSC base that’s apparently from the book Halo: The Flood. What’s weird is that in CE, the base of operations is referred to as a “command shuttle”.

No. The escape pod keys and the bridge crew escaped the pillar on was the command shuttle.

It’s a little vague since there isn’t much to go off of, but from what it sounds like Alpha Base was the replacement for the command shuttle.

I think the two aren’t mutually exclusive. What I mean is, Keyes used the command shuttle for the purposes of relaying commands to his forces until he was forced to retreat and evade the Covie pursuers who hunted down the bridge crew and eventually captured him. At the same time, Silva and his ODSTs worked to capture Alpha Base in order to have a better fortified position.
in the novel Halo the Flood sevral pelicans and even more lifebats land on the ring and sevral hundred marines and ODSTs are sent down in drop pods and capture a forunner bulding and use it as a base
Dude, every time Johnson got killed he respawned a few levels later XD

That’s a good theory, and it’d make much more sense than having it be a small retcon.
