Before I say anything, I have to state that I started Halo with Reach, as I got my first Xbox in 2011. My first game was Reach and I have nothing but love for it. I believed Halo 4 was alright, despite the fact that I thought the multiplayer was disastrous. I actually really enjoyed the competitive side of Halo 5 and I thought the campaign was average. However, I’ve noticed that there is a particular hatred for the campaign and I never understood why. Just yesterday, I got the Master Chief Collection and I immediately had to try out Halo: CE, and I was amazed. I enjoyed my first 10 minutes in CE than I did in the several hours I’ve spent playing Halo 5’s campaign. Although I don’t agree with it, I can now understand the hatred towards Halo 5’s campaign. With that being said, I really believe that Halo 6 can be great as long as it focuses on growing the community and making a game that is enjoyable. I also think that we need to respect each others’ opinion. Believe it or not, there are some people that actually like Halo 5’s campaign and the game as a whole, and learning to respect each other will help the community grow. We are all just Halo players that want to see the game succeed, and we can only hope that it does just that when Halo 6 comes out.
Most hate H5 campaign because #1 it didn’t match or go along with the build up at all. There was no “hunt” what so ever as they were alluding to with the whole “hunt the truth” thing. #2 it didn’t follow up with H4 campaign at all. Mainly because all the post H4 stuff happened in outside media, books and comics. #3. They don’t like the some what cliched story line if the created vs creators. Kinda like Terminator and the Matrix were machines take over humanity.
I thought the H5 campaign was OK. Gets more hate than it deserves but understandably so. I enjoyed some of the missions and gameplay though. The missions swords of Sanghelios and blue team were some of the best in the series IMO.
You don’t even need to play other campaigns to see the issues. Why should anyone care for blue team or Osiris? Who are these people? Why does Locke and chief make nice after their fight out of no where? If you play the previous games the issues just become much more clear such as why the hell is cortana brought back? Especially as a villain? What happened to discovering chiefs himanity? Why did palmer and Halsey make nice out of no where? Just earlier she was so hot headed she’d disobey just to kill her.
a big issue is how it’s somewhat reliant on outside media, which most of the fan base could care less about nor should it be required to help understand things in a game telling a story. If you’re going to add blue team, try to put their background in game.

I completely agree with you. I also think a lot of people dislike it because it doesn’t live up to the “Halo” standard. While I think that’s true, the campaign itself isn’t that bad.
This type of discussion has been done to death and usually creates more work than good, unfortunately.
