(Halo:CE) OMG, please disable friendly splatter

In Halo:CE its extremely easy to team kill with a vehicle and I’ve been temp-banned multiple times at this point for driving in a warthog or a tank as team mates getting flattened as they try hop on. It’s a serious issue and i’m actually worried i might get permanently banned from multiplayer just for trying to play the game.

P.S. also why don’t any vehicles have health in multiplayer? Whats that about?

Halo CE’s vehicles were not destructible in multiplayer. I agree with you on the running over teammates problem. I’ve been booted once or twice now due to this. Disabling this would be great!

If they disable friendly splatter, players will use that advantage to glitch the game, like getting through walls to the enemy base, or being pushed to get out of the map and kill everyone from there.

I’ve played CE on PC (Custom Edition), and in some games friendly fire is disabled and in almost every game, some players do that.

So, I would prefer that friendly fire shouldn’t be disabled. Just be careful to not run over your teammates (Maybe the radar could be enabled, so you can see where your teammates are, but not your enemies, so that would be fair).

Disable friendly fire and it becomes a glitchfest where you can ram players through walls or get jumps to “shortcuts”.

Turning off friendly splatters would alter the original game drastically, so this is something I do not think would change nor would I ever hope it changes. That is how the game was made and it should stay that way. But, the Ghost glitching I have been reading about on the other hand…

As for no health, my theory is Bungie did not want the human vehicles (the “default” ones) to potentially be destroyed and leave the player stranded in campaign. The Covenant vehicles were the cool, “powerup” vehicles and that is why I think they were the only ones to have health.

Yeah, we know. It’s a problem, BUT, it’s a problem that existed in the original game, so it should definitely not be fixed. After a while, you’ll just learn where your teammates might spawn, and just learn to avoid those spots or go slowly. If your teammates are getting killed when trying to hop on, then come to a complete stop to let someone on. Everyone who plays CE knows about this, so they should know to wait for you to stop or hop in without actually touching the vehicle.

And yes, disabling this would cause crazy exploits. You can try some yourself. While an overshield is charging, you are invincible, so go into Blood Gulch with a friend and have them ram you while you pick up an overshield and you’ll see why you don’t want that. You can be sent clear across the map. In fact, there are a few frames getting in and out of vehicles where you are invulnerable to it, and skilled players use this to their advantage to boost around quite a bit. I often fling myself to the top of bases by exiting a ghost and turning it at full speed. I’m in the invincibility frame when it side-swipes me and sends me flying.

I also have no idea why ghosts and banshees don’t have health in multiplayer. I assume since the human vehicles don’t have that feature at all, they figured they should all be the same in multiplayer. I much prefer the invincible vehicles, they’re fun to crash into each other and send flying.

As others have stated, this would not be a good idea, as we would just be able to exploit it by pushing players around in unintended ways.

Perhaps they could lessen the ban hammer on Halo: CE splatter betrayals, although I see this being abused too…

Only sure fire solution is to drive well I’m afraid!

“just be careful” doesn’t work, like i said in the post its mainly when someone jumps at you trying to hop in a seat when they die, or you flip back over your wart hog killing the two passengers. All in know is it cant stay the way it is right now, something needs to change.
At the very least don’t count splatter to the betrayal count. I know this could be abused by trolls but i would prefer that over people getting punished for reasons out of their control.
Even at the very very least put in a betrayal boot popup like in the newer halos so the player can say wither it was trolling or not.

I thought this at first too, but then people would just go out of their way to have a mass splatter betrayal spree. The only thing I can see is potentially increasing the number of splatters required to initiate a boot, if that’s even possible.

Unfortunately you cannot take it out of the game without also compromising the feeling of authentic recreation of the original experience.

How about imputing a boot request like in halo 4 and reach? is that a good compromise? https://i.redd.it/o1885hb2d1001.jpg
TBH i don’t know why they wouldn’t make asking default.

Does Halo: CE just kick you automatically? If so I wasn’t aware. Perhaps it’s just a limitation of Halo: CE, given that we are playing a PC port, which is a port of the original Xbox game, which definitely did not have booting.

My message didn’t say anything about JBC. Regardless, the original did not have betrayal booting and it never will because it’s a core game. Just like how 1, 2, 3 doesn’t have anything to do with the afk players who just sit there.

There’s no way they’re ever going disable that feature being there since the beginning. No one is safe from the CE hog.

Yeh I’ve never understand why Halo 1 matchmaking had friendly fire…I remember when I 1st tried this on MCC and all I ever saw was team killing, which was kind of making teamwork nearly impossible to achieve…though I think I’ve seen less of it since the ‘Reach’ exp system came out but I have still had to deal with it sometimes, some of the accidental deaths by slight taps by vehicles is a bit ridiculous.

Again man… with community servers back in the Gearbox days we never had this issue because the majority of the community turned tking off. Stubborn devs be stubborn
