I’ve been playing Halo since CE came out on the original Xbox and used to play on XBconnect before Live came out.
I was really happy to hear CE would be on Live, but how it has been done is really disappointing. 2v2 gets old, and CE constantly gets outvoted in other rooms. Please give us more options. Larger maps and objective games would be great. I have yet to play many CE maps because they aren’t available in 2v2 and they get outvoted or don’t come up in other rooms.
It’s easier to get a custom 2v2 game going because it’s less people, and many people in other chat discussions have expressed wanting to play with larger groups and on the larger maps that don’t come up in the exclusive CE room. Also, there is no room for people learning to play CE or who haven’t played in a while. Usually new players quit 2v2 because they’re instantly getting murdered and then their teammate is left to play 2v1.
In an ideal world 343 would keep 2v2 and have another dedicated CE gametype for larger groups/maps, but that’s probably not going to happen.

My friends that I used to play Halo with years ago have ZERO faith in 343. They only see it as a money grubbing corporate entity designed to serve only one thing, itself, and with billions of dollars at stake in the video game industry the people running 343 don’t have the stones to think outside the well established statistical box and/or throw a bone to their original fans. I hope they’re wrong. And I for one can’t not try. These forums are the only way I know how to try. I can’t overstate the amount of fun we used to have playing big games on the original Xbox and H1 on PC.
Yeah, same here. We used to have large CTF matches on Sidewinder all the time and it was fantastic. Larger numbers throw a bit of chaos into the whole thing, which is awesome. 2v2 ends up being one team taking over a strategic point on the map (usually the upstairs on Damnation and Prisoner) and then they wait for the other team to come to them (out of boredom) where they can easily kill them. If you’re into that, fine, but at least give the rest of us the choice to play larger CE matches whenever we want. That rarely happens in the other rooms, as it gets outvoted.
I’d be happy pappy if they made Halo 1 a 4v4 playlist and added Halo 1 2v2 to the Team Doubles playlist. It seems like Halo 3 and Halo 2 are chosen 90% of the time in Team Slayer.

Yep, and it rarely gets chosen in Big Team Battle also. I’d personally love a 5v5 room (like Halo 4 currently has) and a focus on the larger maps, but I’d take 4v4 any day. 4v4 on Blood Gulch and Sidewinder was always an awesome number. Two playing defense and two on offense…

Seriously. Let the 2v2 crowd feel the frustration the rest of us H1 fans have had to experience.
Also with BTB you might not even get the option of voting for a Halo: CE map since BTB has 1,2,3 and 4 in it. Me and my roommate played 2 BTB matches today and that was the case both times. I never played the PC version of CE but the one map I’ve been able to play since I got the MC Collection (Danger Canyon) seemed pretty awesome and it would be nice to be able to try out the others and play them on a consistent basis.
Another issue I have is that Halo: CE is always to the far right in voting so it loses all ties. Why is this exactly? I tried doing a google search but couldn’t find anything. There’s a chance I just have really bad luck, but for 9 games straight today of team slayer the order of maps from left to right was 2, 3, then 1. I haven’t done a tally of BTB battle games yet but I think Halo: CE was to the far right of voting most of the time there as well.

Yeah, I love the huge CE maps, including the PC ones, but it’s hard to get them voted. I would LOVE a BTB for CE, but we’ll probably just have to deal with a 4v4 or 5v5 playlist. Hoping if they release CE on Marketplace it’ll have more options with BTB.
Also, add me, Zen. We’re trying to get a bunch of people together to play CE customs more.

Yeah, I’m not sure why we’re serving Halo 3 fans so much. Now they’ve been added to hardcore. Most people probably still own their 360 and a copy of Halo 3…you have tons of multiplayer options there. That goes for Halo 4 as well. However, CE has NEVER been on Live before, and Halo 2 was taken off a while ago…I remember…I played on the last day for many hours after having gotten back into it. CE really deserves more than it’s getting. Halo 2 has a few playlists and the anniversary maps/etc. Please, 343, give us another dedicated CE playlist with larger maps, etc.

Do you think there’s any chance they don’t give Halo 3 backwards compatibility and then discontinue it on xbox live to herd all of the players in to one place? They could maybe then justify removing Halo 3 from some of the cross game playlists and making dedicated Halo 3 playlists of the same variety. This wouldn’t solve the problem but it would increase our chances of seeing Halo 1 in games. Same goes for Halo 4 but I doubt they’d do that with such a newer game…

It’s pretty crazy that they’d split their own fan base. “DIVIDE AND CONQUER… our own fan base.” Great idea 343. Then piss off all the MCC players by creating incentives for people to quit (cross game playlists).
I wish they would shut down the servers for H3 and H4 and offer those players either a free download of MCC, a rebate towards a One, or several months of Xbox Live. If they’re gonna throw a million dollars at the pro community, how about doing the ones who pay your salaries a favor?
I think there would be some pretty angry customers if they shut down the Halo 4 servers, and a few more if they shut down the Halo 3 servers, unless the incentive they were offering for upgrading was pretty substantial. I think they would have to offer at least $50 off the MCC Xbox One bundle for those players. If they did that and threw in a free year of Xbox Live I think people could live with it. But then how would they say who gets the discount and who doesn’t? Do you have to trade in a copy of your game or just show that you’ve played it online during a certain time period? And would you offer it to just Halo 4 players or to Halo 3 players also? If there weren’t so many issues with the game already it would be nice if they could bring Reach to this game and do the same with it.
Yeah, I liked Reach and actually loved ODST. Should have been everything. But, most importantly, I just want more Halo CE options, the whole reason I bought the game! There will be no buying on Halo 5 unless this is dealt with for me.

I was thinking the same thing. I’m getting too old to put up with this abusive relationship. I give them money over and over just to watch them give most other people what they want and throw a million dollars at the pros. I’ve paid for H1 5 times, twice for the original Xbox (one for guests), H1 PC, H1A, and now as a part of MCC. I’d like for once in my life to play some 4v4 matchmaking with my friends. I love halo but the taste in my mouth is so bitter about this I may not be able to stomach forking over another $60. H1 gets voted for in TS and BTB all the time, just to watch the other team quit. There is a group of people that want to play it.
