Halo ce gameplay

Again, its still way too inconsistant. The game mechanics back then were so poor and slow, they wouldn’t last a second with the modern community. CE was great and all, but it was such a primative game. I do love how grenades were actually used to take down shields rather than outright kill players.

Inconsistent? How so… Seems to me that all guns had their place and were used during the game, all kills were skill related and fair, kill times were smooth with large skill gaps, player moves well around the map. All seemed positive to me.

If graphics and animations were updated this would be a better game than Reach. Hands down. Maybe update spawn system and that is all. Everything else was amazing.

This game, even on PC, had terrible netcode, and a garbage spawn system. Those 2 things, if fixed, would make the best game in the series, miles ahead of Halo 2.

True. The netcode in H:PC was garbage but at least it was a lot better in the Custom Edition. Still not great, but considerably better.

And the spawn system was probably the worst ever. I still remember watching a video of a game on Hang’em High where a guy had figured out and perfectly memorized the spawn system. He’d place the reticle of his sniper rifle right where the head of an opponent would appear when he respawned. Scary stuff.

The gameplay was easily the most fun and chaotic of all Halo games, while being the most competitive and STILL extremely fun for casuals.

This is why Halo 1 will forever remain the best gameplay experience of all Halo games.

Thanks for that video, it brought back memories. I have to agree with Omega and UNKNOWN about the beauty of Halo CE’s gameplay. I had the most fun with Halo CE multiplayer than any other Halo after it. That’s why I, like may others, am disapointed that Anniversary’s multiplayer simply mimics Halo CE’s mechanics within the Reach engine. There is no hope for a true remake this time around, and that’s why I made a futile request on the petition thread to at least provide the original multiplayer as a system-link-only option in Anniversary. It can’t be that difficult if nothing extra is added.

You’re saying CE was inconsistent with poor and slow game mechanics??? You can not be serious. Are you sure you’re not talking about H3 and Reach? Because they fit that description perfectly.

Yes, CE was primitive in terms of features & options compared to today, but the quality of gameplay has not been matched by any Halo since, and certainly not by any of the last two abominations.

QFT I learned that last night when i got to play multiplayer again… amazing.

Exactly, but I disagree about the spawn system. Controlling your enemies spawns and forcing bad spawns is part of what made Halo Ce teammwork so complex, the best teams could 99 percent control the spawn system and thus setups and “lookoffs” were even more key to victory. The spawn system didnt get better in later Halo games, it got more dumbed down and random just like everything else in the game. The spawn system being controlled by the players not the game, was one more thing in Halo Ce that gave it is insanely high skill cap that puts it up there with some of the best competitve FPS ever created.

Loved the video OP, I LOVE watching oldschool FPS they were so much better on a competitve level and so much purer and not full of gimmicks and casual BS. Halo CE= pure FPS before all the gimmicks and thats why I love it.
