Myself and another friend both had our co-op groups experience lag. For me I hosted and did not lag, but my partner did. It was more like a delay in timing for everything, not teleport lag. I was wondering if this is being worked on more or not. Pretty sure this is the same issue as the 2011 Halo CEA.
Its been that way with every halo campaign. its expected to lag when playing over live. Can’t be sure on Halo 2 I guess, but 3, reach, and 4 do it too since their launch. Don’t expect a change. Only hope they do something different for Halo 5.

You would be correct. If I host, I will not see issues but my party will and vise versa. This is the same issue Halo 3 was plagued with as well.
No, I’ve never had this issue with Halo 3 co-op, with multiple parties. So this is a new problem for me. ODST did not do this either.

At least for me, this is not true.
Halo 3 and Halo Reach were absolutely fine for online campaign co-op.
The MCC’s campaign (at least Halo 4, I only have tried that) has massive lag (or rather: “a delay in timing for everything” as OP describes it) and it is really bad.
Halo CE Anniversary had the same issue, although it feels even worse now.
As long as this issue keeps being a thing, Halo MCCs online co-op must be considered broken.
Just played Halo: CEA with a different friend (who lives much farther away) and he said that he wasn’t experiencing any significant lag.

The same issue is in Halo CEA for 360. That is currently the worst thing about this right now. The input lag literally made me and my cousin stop trying to do the coop on Halo CEA on the 360 and now on MCC. I wish they would fix it, I don’t really have any friends around that can play Halo CE on Legendary with me (they blow at it).

This just isn’t true. And it’s honestly a little frustrating to see people keep saying it. It’s a Halo CEA specific issue (not sure about Halo 2). It existed three years ago when they first released it and it still exists now. Halo CEA is the ONLY Halo co-op I’ve ever played that suffers from severe input lag. Halo 3, Reach, and Halo 4 didn’t have it for me nor any of my friends. The fact that I get severe input lag even over system link is proof that it has nothing to do with Xbox Live.
The issue didn’t get much exposure three years ago and as a result they didn’t bother to address it.

He just didn’t notice it. The non-host co-op player has input lag whether they notice it or not. I get it even on system link. The input lag IS significant and it’s extremely annoying.

Agreed, never had problems with other Halos. Apparently from what I know it is because of the way Halo was coded back in its original release which had no online playability and therefore the co-op was not designed for it. To change that code may require significant rewrites. However I just had a friend that said he wasn’t really lagging. So there may be hope this time around.

Same here. I was playing Halo CEA co-op with a friend back when it first released, but the input lag was just unbearable. We only made it past the first mission before calling it quits. So disappointing to see that the issue still exists.
How did you even get into the same lobby?

Even doing that was a challenge. Sometimes resetting the game was necessary.
have the same problem here. It’s not the connection it’s the game. It’s also not normal xbox live related lag. For me at least it’s unique to The CE remake on 360 and, unbelievably, MCC on the one. It doesn’t happen on 3, 4, ODST or Reach in my experience.
Will this get some kind of fix this time or just be ignored like it was on CEA on 360?
The stupid thing is this never happened to me on Halo 3, ODST, Reach or Halo 4. But it now does happen to me in Halo 3+4 campaigns in the MCC.
had the same problem on halo CEA on 360 and I played on different internet connection, console and even country! It is the only game that does that I have a good connection as well as my friends. I was hoping for things to be different MCC and I think 343 Industry need to address this issue and let us they are aware of it! It is not right to do the same mistake twice. I don’t even want to finish the campaign which is sad.
My friend and I were having the same issue last night on H2A
It does seem to be an issue for everyone but the host, as I experienced the exact same thing. I joined my friend’s party, he hosted co-op campaign on CEA, and I had a ridiculous amount of input lag. I also noticed that even the cut-scenes were choppy/jumpy. We made it through the first three missions on Legendary, but it was very frustrating trying to snipe or even melee. I see 343 is rolling out some more server-side patches this morning, so fingers crossed this is something that’s addressed in those patches, but I don’t even want to being Halo 2A until this is resolved, totally ruins the experience.
My friend and I having the same issue, it would be nice to have this issue resolved. Playing the campaign co-op online is so frustrating at the moment. The amount of input lag makes the game unplayable.

Umm… I can safely say that it is very true. I absolutely hated playing campaign online. Halo 3, Reach, and Halo 4 suffered with it if I wasn’t host. I’m not saying that I am getting 1 second input delays, but even with 100ms delay, it is very noticeable, and very annoying. Halo: Reach firefight even did it. All of my friends experienced it too, so we’d LAN party it up with firefight on the occasional weekend. I ain’t taking dem crazy pillz.
What constitutes SEVERE input lag for you? Because if you can deal with a 1/4 second delay, then sure, the campaigns have no lag, but I’d say anything above maybe 20ms kills the mood for me.
Now I’m not saying CEA doesn’t have some weird bug that causes the lag when it shouldn’t (I don’t know the input delay either, 200ms? 5 seconds? what?). What I am saying is that from my experience playing campaigns online, 3, Reach, Reach firefight, and 4 are crap for me. You can say I’m picky I guess since even the slightest delay bothers me.
Same here, terrible input lag
