Heck, in the Master Chief Collection version of Combat Evolved Anniversary, there’s even an achievement for doing it.

it’s not overpowered, it’s how the game is supposed to be

Basically the only gun I use other than the sniper rifle.

Still overpowered as ever in ann. I know this off topic but I played some CE multiplayer on the MCC and everyone was using magnums…I wonder why?
