this has been on my mind for a few months now and i hope someone could clear this up, when i play another game such as half life source the weapon animation’s look really smooth yet when i play halo ce on pc i can’t tell if its just me but the animations look…off…i guess you could say,
i know the game was originally meant to be locked to 30fps but the animations look like there running at half that.
from what i understand about animation a frames per second is selected and then over the coarse of the animation the polygons of the model are manipulated and each movement starts and stops at keyframe.
for example say i have a ball and i want to make it bounce once, i set my frames per second to 30 and my total frames to 60 giving me two seconds of footage,
i set a keyframe at the start with my ball at the far left floating in the air, next i select the 30th frame and then move the ball onto the ground and to the middle before making frame 30 into a keyframe, because there are 30 frames per second the ball will move slightly 30 times over a second till it gets to where it is in frame 30, i then select frame 60 and move the ball up and to the right before turning frame 60 into a key frame, when played the ball should bounce from one end to the other over 2 seconds.
i’m not really sure if it works the same way in video games but if someone could explain this to me but it would be helpful if they could
