Halo can't be compared to anything

It’s like comparing a moa and a wolf, They are different beasts. You can’t compare h5 to black ops two because ttk is WAAY different no vehicles ect, doom is probably the closest thing to halo, but its too fast pace, even to compare to h5 compared to h3 you might as well be walking at turtles speed. Until a game that is closer to halo comes out, then we’ll compare it. (Also just a thing I noticed, we don’t compare halo to any games that is worse than halo5, we always compare it to games better or equal to halo).

Halo is love. Halo is life.

Well, what exactly is worse than Halo 5? Everything is better than Halo 5. /sarcasm, don’t take it too seriously.

Mate, Halo can be compared to anything. It has to compete with not only other FPS games, but all games in general. So comparisons between various games and Halo are alright in my book.

so what does this have to do with anything?

Destiny? But if you are going in that direction you might as well compare halo to splatoon.

Although it can technically be compared to some other FPS that are from the past or upcoming, nothing can come close to how Halo is my most favorite FPS of all time. No other FPS has yet to impress me and leave such an impact that Halo has done

or even yoshi safari or duck hunt or even wii sports version of skeet

I compare Halo to unreal tournament, doom, and other non-realism games. Because Halo used to be a sci-fi shooter, and that’s what made it fun, killing aliens with fantasy style weapons: Halo.

The implications here are confusing.

Mate, while I don’t like nu-Halo so much as others do, I’m pretty sure it is still science fiction. At least 40% sure.

I’m still confused as to how that makes sense. How does halo compete vs fallout? Smite? Tom raider? Halo would need to implement things into the game that other genres have, if I were a halo dev, I’d only worry about other fps games. Fps crowd could care less if an mmo/rpg crowd is higher up in popularity if you ask me because halo isn’t an rpg or an mmo.

They do compete. Which is more fun? Which do I spend my time playing?

That doesn’t mean Halo should try to rope in the MMO market, but they certainly interact with each other.

Like S 000 DeM said, it’s a case of “which do I play more, and which am I going back to more?” The game has to entice other gamers who do not primarily play the game, to buy and play the game. This could be through marketing, fan hype, etc. Obviously, I’m not saying that Halo needs to turn into a RPG focused game, but it does need to entice people who do not play Halo to buy Halo. There are more people out there that play other games as their primary go-to game, than there are those who primarily play Halo.

I will feel free to compare modern Halo to all of the other games it from which it got its innovative new gimmicks.

This, my friend, is a comparison.

And then trace where those games got their gimmicks from. It’s all a circle, mate. H5 isn’t the first installment to borrow from other games. Halo CE borrowed from those before it. Those after CE borrowed from it. halo borrowed from those that borrowed from them. It’s one big -Yoink!-.

I also compare it to Turok in a lot of ways. Fallout feels sorta like the parallel to Halo, dystopian and mad max as to it being space and futuristic.

Also to the person saying he was 40% sure it’s still scifi, you’re kinda right. But the game has a less sci-fi atmosphere then ever, realistic guns and sounds sort of drown out the visuals, and not even the sci-fi looking armor and colors make up for it that much. It needs to get back to what made it such a grand space adventure, and less of realism in general.

Fine, titanfall and crysis. Really Halo 5’s been following the advanced mobility trend all FPS games have been following the last year.

And I was just about to finish my dissertation on how Halo 5 is the spiritual successor to Kinectimals.

The difference is that these mechanics are only in Halo 5, because those games are popular. I’m certainly not suggesting that Call of Duty invented sprint mechanics. Halo CE was a unique combination of ideas from other games and some fresh ones. Modern Halo games are filled with clutter and gimmicks incorporated solely to make them less like Halo and more in line with modern shooter game trends.
