Halo Bulletin: Sprint in Halo 4?

Now this is pure speculation, however I’d like to point out something that perked my attention while reading this week’s Halo bulletin…

From the mouth of Kenneth Scott, Senior Art Director of Halo 4, we have this week’s OHI entry. However, the third-to-last sentence reads:

"A Spartan sprinting across concrete should be a stealthy whisper…. "

Perhaps this could be hinting at sprinting capabilities in Halo 4? I, personally, don’t think this was said accidentally, I believe it was used on purpose, for a reason. However it could also mean nothing!

I’d also like to point out another tidbit that might lead to something. When discussing how Halo action figures came into being, bs angel had the following to say:

“Toy manufacturing, you see, is typically a year-long process that starts with the delivery of 3D files. For earlier games, such as Halo 2 and Halo 3, the game assets weren’t hi-res enough to make figures, so oftentimes, additional sculptural changes were necessary. Halo 4 assets, however, are so hi-res, they didn’t require many, if any, modifications.”

Looks like Halo 4’s going to have significantly better graphics than Halo 3, which is what I’m taking from this statement, however it could mean nothing!

Thoughts?

To be honest,I really hope they keep sprint,and maybe jetpack,but That’s a HUGE maybe…

i had tbh same thoughts after reading i had the same thoughts and hope it means tat ill actually feel like a spartan in halo 4 rather than a waddling turret.

If the graphics present in 4 are superior to the level of detail in Reach, the graphics should do fine.

I’m not too sure about the idea of an 800 pound+ guy running silently across concrete. I’d personally think the Mjolnir shoes would make a good deal of sound.

If sprint is present, i’d prefer the sound of heavier foot falls while sprinting over the heavy breathing.

Big/Heavy guys can indeed move quietly. It all comes down to a very smooth, even distribution of your weight. But sprinting is another matter as well. Then again Spartan IIs were originally trained to commandos so I think they may know a thing or two about moving fast and silent.

yeah read ghosts of Onyx and fall of reach i distinctly remember at the start of ghosts of Onyx John moving silently through a forest or wood at least silent enough to pop the neck of some poor guy guarding a rebel base.

At the very least that’s adding at least one too many abilities to our already overpowered character to bring us into the pointless world of (as a metaphor to serve the point and nothing more) Superman’s endless supremecy and away from Batman’s limitations and depth.

Else, there’s really not much of a struggle between him and whatever contrived evil he faces, nor is there much to gameplay because with the ability to do everyting well there comes the inability to follow anything more substantial than the path of least resistance.

> Except Chief ISN’T a walking tank. He was never made to be a walk tank. He was designed(The gene modifications) to be a commando, i.e. sneak and kill. The armour while weighty isn’t limiting, it enhances. Your trying to make it sound like he is a Dreadnought trying to play spy. Chief is limited in that he can easiliy be killed(not like fine china but you get the point) because he is VERY human. Enhanced but human. I get where you are coming from, but your projecting him as being invincible, which he isn’t. Like other Spartans hes suffered many different injuries over his career and they all aren’t as simple as a bullet wound.

I think sprinting will incorporate some sound, like it does in Reach. You can’t here the footsteps, but you can here your Spartan breathing, that’s how you know when someone’s running up on you. If it’s completely silent, it’d be a bunch of ninjas!

I dont think there should be any armor abilities in Halo 4. I enjoyed Halo 3 10x more than Halo: Reach without sprint or any of that, it was just cooler

What I do think they should do is make the spartan move faster and jump higher just like in Halo 3, after Halo 4 comes out after a couple of months everyone would totally forget about the armor abilites,

To sum things up I DISLIKE armor abilites!
