Anyway, so bsangel talked a lot about how the character of Master Chief is so important and crucial. It’s obviously going to play a huge role in the new trilogy. I think that this is extremely brave and smart of 343i to do. It’s going to provide a new depth of the character of Master Chief not seen as much in the previous games besides some interactions with Cortana. This will ultimately make a better and stronger story, in my opinion, because the players will be able to connect more to John. We’ll be able to understand him better, feel what he feels, and eventually, depending of course on where the story goes, Catharsis. Character, to me, is what truly drives a good story, and I’m happy that 343i is going to really focus on this.
So what’s your opinion? Are you glad that character will be a focus, or does it not matter that much to you?

Well, we learned that was the route they were taking months ago, so it’s not really sayign much and might as well be a missed opportunity to shed some light on the game.
“he’s wearing 800 pounds of tank and jet fighter. So we pulled that design into the armor and HUD. When you play Halo 4, it’s important you understand that you’re more than just a gun on the screen. To give you that feeling, we have represented that weight with player physics”
I may be reading too much into this quote but i hope to god this does not mean a return of slow movement speed’s similar to Reach…

He lacks patience–no need to get into another argument.

She did say that they dont want it to feel like the bulkiness from Reach. Dont feel like finding the quote, its in there though.

Jet fighters aren’t slow but tanks aren’t exactly speed demons. A middle ground perhaps?

Don’t think so they said that the where shying away from the bulky feel from reach. I think the reason your slow in reach is because you a spartan 3 they don’t got the same enhancements
While it’s possible that an exploration of the Chief’s character could be done well, I can’t help but return to the fact that it’s a very artificial addition to the series. The Master Chief was at no point in time the protagonist of the Halo games, but rather the agent through whose eyes we, as players, experienced the universe. He was an empty vessel, save for a few well-placed attempts at characterisation, and that was precisely what made him so compelling. Now, 343 Industries is giving him the same treatment that they are giving the Forerunners and the Flood: they are throwing a spotlight and a magnifying glass on him in order to examine every possible dimension of his character. And while this has the potential to reveal some interesting aspects of the man, it also has the (much larger) potential to render his flaws in excruciating detail. It frightens me.
I am glad with the direction they are going. And I love that they are going to make us feel like a " badass" in the way we walk, jump, etc. Somewhere in between Halo 3 and Reach. Not to cartoony ( jumping extremely high, etc ), but not too bulky ( Reach ). Im excited.
I am genuinely thrilled and overjoyed to hear them go into more detail than the games ever have. I understand that they have touched down on this topic before, but to see it written in somewhat more detail about diving further into the Chief’s past and current state I am excited to see what the Halo 4 campaign will include. This will certainly be the wait in my opinion. 343 has the Chief’s back.
