I was expecting matchmaking search times to be slow for The Master Chief Collection. The population of gamers is limited to those who have purchased both an Xbox One and The Master Chief Collection. I don’t mean to complain, because I know 343 is already on the issue. However, I feel like this is a great example of why Halo could use bots in multiplayer. It would be impressive if you could play custom games (such as Infection games) with AI players. I figure it couldn’t be easy making AI that could function on Forge-made maps, but for a long time there have been games with AI that could operate in different game modes. Halo would be taking a leap in the right direction if they incorporated AI players in multiplayer.
As for making AI that could interact with custom maps, this is much closer to a reality now. The Xbox One is 16x more powerful than the 360, and I think it’s possible to make smart AI with this new technology.
Final statement: Halo 5: Guardians should add bots to its multiplayer.
What do you guys think?
I grew up in the boonies (no high-speed internet) and also played a lot of video games prior to the advent of xbox live.
That being said, I think bots is a great idea! There was some 007 game for Xbox that had bots, and I’d switch to it all the time when only a few or none of my buddies could come over (Also, Perfect Dark for N64). For practicing for Halo: CE I had resorted to putting a controller on the ground and moving the second player around with my feet so I could shoot at a moving target. Sounds crazy now, but I didn’t have a lot of choices!
Anyways, I think they’d be used much less now (Zombies is a good idea, since nobody likes being the zombies anyhow!). Either way, it’s still a good idea. I’d like to see it!
If they did this, they could reprogram the AI’s from the story…but that’s just a hunch of what they could do…
It would be pretty cool to have bots in multiplayer gameplay…
But adding more stuff like this would just make it like CoD and Battlefield…
i dont mind for customs, but no bots in matchmaking
I would hate playing with bots. That being said, I’m sure that’s something that would only be used in custom games (as an option, not a requirement), so as long as it isn’t going to be shoved down my throat in matchmaking, I’ve got no problem with it.
YES!!!
No bots in Matchmaking though. And configurable to some degree in Custom Games. But…
YES!!!
Here’s a post I made on the topic.
> Look at Unreal Tournament and Timesplitters. If they can make bots that are mostly compatible with every custom map, weapon, and gametype, (admittedly, one had to bot path one’s custom maps first in the UT games before they would be able to traverse it.) Halo can certainly do it too. Timesplitters had it to where they were able to navigate the map by using the items placed around the map.

> Seriously, there’s a bunch of ways they could do this. But you know what? They don’t even have to make the bots Forge map compatible. Just have them restrained to the base and DLC maps. Or maybe forbid them in the custom maps until the map author bot paths the map.
Bots + Forge = Greatest game ever… (343 please read)
