Halo Battlefront 5?

I think most of us here has played Star-Wars Battlefront II and I think that we can all agree that it was a great game.
Now I’m also pretty sure if you’re here reading this, you’ve played Halo and obviously enjoy it a lot if you’re on Halo-Waypoint.

So we all like Star-Wars Battlefront and we all like Halo so… (wait for it) What if we combined some elements together?

Now before I get into the details, this would still be regular Halo for the most part, its mainly just BTB and custom game options that would get affected so don’t worry if you’re a guy who plays throw-down or team doubles, you won’t get affected.

With the new Xbox One we should hopefully be able to get bigger player count (like Battlefield has at the moment) which would mean 1. bigger battles 2. space battles

First I’ll discuss regular BTB; Basically you would have bigger maps and vehicles e.g. Elephant or maybe Pelican(Mammoths probably still a bit too big) so we could basically up-size what BTB is at the moment and also hopefully Have these with objective play like e.g. CTF, Assault Territories, VIP, Invasion and Dominion. I reckon this would be very fun and use a bit more cooperation in holding objectives/driving bigger vehicles. (And there would be no DMR or Light-rifle starts, just medium range weapons to balance the long sight-lines.)

Secondly there would be space battles (like Battlefront) where you spawn inside your mother-ship (probably UNSC and Covenant sides like invasion) and each ship would hold space vehicles you could drive e.g. saber, broadsword, pelican, longsword, space banshee, seraph, phantom, lich and your goal would either be take out the enemy ships shield and destroy engines, bridge, weapon systems etc or you could take a pelican or phantom, board the enemy ship and take it out from the inside. I think something like this would work very well and be very fun.

What do you think of these ideas? Please explain what you like/dislike about them.

Or you could just play Starwars Battlefront 3.

A bit like what people thought reach was going to be when it was first annonced as this epic scale invasion halo game.

To be honest, I think THE game which cannot and will not be beaten for quite a while is battlefield 4. Now I’ve often considered battlefield and battlefront to be quite similar in a lot of the gameplay (but battlefront stopped :[, but now it’s started again hurray! :] ).
I still look forward to halo 5 and I’ve suggested for quite a while that halo 5 should take this sort of approach (which it may), but that trailer for siege of shanghai just looks… breathtaking.

People have often suggested a FPS/RTS crossover, battlefield 4 has commander mode. It also has 64 player games, huge choice of weapons/vehicles, destructible environment (which they call levolution [actions directly change outcome of game]) and well… everything.

If 343 can make halo 5 a halo version of this (and well not exactly copying), it would be freakin awesome and draw back the community. NO MORE SMALL SCALE BATTLES! (this shall be the death of COD, don’t let halo follow suit).

EDIT: Also did I mention counter-assassinations?

I just don’t think currently the weapons in Halo are honestly made for large scale maps.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the weapons in Halo and they do a pretty good job with already large maps but for the maps that you describe from battlefield, would require a new range of weapons that would accommodate the size and scope of such maps

What d’you mean? they are not capable of long distances or too capable and would ruin gameplay?

Battlefield has bullet drop whereas halo doesn’t.

Perhaps bigger maps will be better, snipers won’t be outclassed by the DMR and closer range weapons can be more effective indoors. Basically weapon ranges will be more important, which should actually improve gameplay.

I’ve long though a Battlefield/Battlefront-style Halo game would be neat. As a spin-off, of course, but all the same.

> Best not. 343i would be blamed for copying it, and there’s honestly not enough going on in terms of wars, personnel, factions, infantry, etc for it to work.

Well I’m pretty sure Forerunners vs Flood, Forerunners vs Ancient Humans, Humans vs Covenant would work, we don’t need to stay with a specific timeframe

lol. No

Battlefield is slow and very inpersonal. It will never come close to touching games like COD or Halo. Fast, tight gameplay with a low amount of of players so it feels personal and you feel impactful will always be #1.

I wouldn’t say iMpersonal as players are more altruistic and are placed in squads who work together but I agree, the larger maps can be slow (but hey! we have sprint! YAY!).

As for ‘It will never come close to touching games like COD or Halo’, yeah, cos Halo 4 is a big success. Maps on halo reach were great and open, remember boneyard or all time favourite (from halo CE) hemorrhage (blood gulch)? halo can work more openly and does work better more openly. Vehicles in halo 4 suck. Even halo 3 had better and more open maps. Take sandtrap and avalanche.

Obviously it shouldn’t be a direct copy of battlefield/battlefront, but we can get some good ideas. Battlefront, as the OP said, was very popular while battlefield being quite similar. Scifis can work more openly and it will encourage teamplay.

And also, halo should NOT be focused mainly on 4v4 as you described. Halo is so much more and unless 343 go for what the community wants, halo will die.

EDIT:

Heres a chart: boom
and while COD is more played than battlefield 3, remember that black ops 2 is newer and is in decline while battlefield 3 has a steady population.

Yes, I probably will also be playing Battlefront 3, but what I was trying to say was wouldn’t it be cool if we could have Battlefront elements in the Halo universe? I think larger scale battles and space battles would work quite well with Halo.

Plus remember I said only custom games and BTB would be affected, the rest of the multiplayer would be the regular.

No.

As a spin-off, yes. As a mainstream title, possibly. It may be too drastic of a change, but it could work.
