Halo and Twitch

So, got an email today…

Treyarch is once again innovating, and has quickly added this in. Would you like to see this in Halo?

343 really need to step up, COD have added this AND 4 patches already

Meh. I don’t even know what a Twitch Channel is.

Well considering COD added theater after they realized how successful it was in Halo 3 I don’t see why 343i wouldn’t atleast think about adding streaming in Halo 4 or maybe later n in Halo 5

Ah, so its not big at all then, just because you havent heard of it.

I wonder if MS is ever going to support its biggest of a mere handful of exclusives?

The CoD engine is easier to patch. It takes DICE 3 months to patch Battlefield, and it will take 343 3 months to patch Halo.

I don’t want to see this in Halo. If you want to stream, buy the appropriate gear and do it properly.
Theater is useful for watching back game-plays, and then possibly recording them.
Streaming is not useful.

Watch other people play a game for hours? No thank you. Halo’s theater mode works just fine for clips of awesomeness…why do we need to watch an entire match…ever?

This seems to be more of a deal between Twitch and Activision rather than Treyarch implementing anything. They have a spectator mode in the game (seriously WHY???) and so they are allowing Twitch to access that.

You would think that using the same game engine every year, they wouldn’t NEED 4 patches, if any. 343 is a new studio that completely overhauled the Halo engine and aside from the few map holes, there hasn’t really been anything that NEEDS to be patched.

And no, the DMR does not NEED to be patched, and neither does the Boltshot. Both can be overcome by adapting.

343 is taking their time with the balance patch so that something else doesn’t become the subject of “[GUN] IS OP FIX IT!!!” threads. Pretty sure that is why Treyarch keeps creating updates…fix one thing hastily, more things need fixing and so on.

P.S. I doubt the majority of Halo players know or even care what Twitch is.

No body wants to see me play so this wouldn’t be useful.

I already stream to Twitch with my HDPVR. So I don’t care about the feature. I’d rather them work on the important parts, you know, the game.

I can’t find anywhere that I said it wasn’t big because I don’t know what it is. Since I don’t know what it is the whole idea of it is just meh to me. To me, it’s just another gimmick that I would never use. It could be there or not and it wouldn’t change my opinion of a game either way.

I’d love Theater…if you could watch WITH FRIENDS! I’ve given up on 343 making an attempt to compete with other titles. When 5 comes out please release it AFTER cod so Halo doesnt get blown out again…

This is a feature which is a god send for multiple communities, and helps people save money by not bothering with cap cards. Certainly not a gimmick. A gimmick is something like Personal Ordnance.

Sounds cool, but I expect the quality of video to the be the equivalent of kaka.

Reading comprehension is needed. The key part of that sentence was TO ME but I guess you missed that. To you it’s apparently very important. To me it’s meh. Why is that so hard to understand? You asked if we would like to see this feature in Halo. My answer is meh, I don’t care.

Maybe you just need to adapt?

He answered your question honestly, so you tell him to start caring about it by adapting? What?

I’m fairly certain the majority of the people that play Halo (and the ones that have stopped) don’t know or care what Twitch is.

I don’t care if it’s in the game or not either and nothing is going to change that. Once the file browser is up online (Feb) people will be back to creating montages like the old days. I don’t think Halo has ever been a game where live streaming has been a big thing.

Sure MLG would probably do that when they would have big events, but their Halo following dwindled so they just moved on from Halo entirely. Even though they could have just switched back to Reach or 3 if they REALLY wanted Halo in their lineup.

That made a lot of sense. Good job. Not sure how you adapt to not caring if a certain feature is added but keep fighting the good fight brother.

The responses to this thread are absolutely mind boggling. I am amazed every time i read forums on this site and see just how blinded people are about there beloved halo game. Im not going to bash on halo, though it does have many faults(Counting on you Bravo) but this site definitely needs a wake up call.

On topic now, this is a huge move for Treyarch and CoD. First getting picked up by MLG and now partnering with twitch will not only generate loads of cash for the devs but also for its competitive players and the streamers who are just downright entertaining to watch. It gives anyone that was hindered by not having the money for a cap card to put themselves out there.

This is a great new feature that gives CoD even another step ahead of Halo. Treyarch committed itself to the competitive community since the beginning and because of that it benefits everyone that plays the game. Competitive play is the trunk of the tree that holds everything together while great things grow off of it bringing new life to a game almost everyday. They plant a new tree every year but they always use the same seed, and that is why it is so popular and why they succeed. Why change for the sake of change?

Sounds like an MLG tryhard that needs to adapt

So because i love the game of halo and i want to see it succeed i am a MLG tryhard? i have never even attended an MLG event in my life. I am just not blinded from the truth. The top 5 games in the world all have 1 thing in common. Can you guess what it is? Heres a hint. Its devs focus on the competitive side first.
