Halo and Aliens Universe Parrallels

The original Halo took inspiration from the movie Aliens. Which is awesome.

After seeing Prometheus this week, I can’t help but see even more parrallels between the two universes.

Maybe Prometheus has taken some inspiration back from Halo 4.

I’m so happy that there is actually some well thought out sci-fiction to did in to. It’s been a long time waiting. Can’t wait for Halo 4, and the next 3 Halo books, also the sequel to Prometheus.

But I guess what I’m really here to say is:

Flood vs. Xenomorph?

Engineers (Prometheus [Aliens]) vs. Forerunners?

I love Alien references in Halo. I also love the Alien films, despite their departure from the mystery of the first film. One thing Halo can take from Alien is lighting. Alien used that so expertly well. AVPR on the other hand had horrible lighting.

Flood vs. Xenomorph… I think individual match-up best determines that but that’s just me being excited. Obviously, we have to mix them up and list various scenarios.

Hope I don’t go too off topic.

Flood Infection Forms vs. Facehugger
I’d say Facehugger wins. Much more harder to remove, bleeds acid blood, and it knockouts the victim (and insufficiently equipped species will not notice the embryo). I don’t know about resisting their attempts to latch on, but in Halo, we’ve seen marines resisting against infection forms (343 GS cutscene) and we’ve seen the Prophet of Mercy resisting long enough to avoid being infected. And of course, the infection form pop affects nearby infection forms.

Feral Flood Combat Forms (human, brutes, elites) vs. Alien infantry (drones, runners, warriors)
I’m leaning towards Aliens simply because they’re much more durable, ferocious, and they stab instead of slashing. And again, acid blood. Also, in CE, the combat forms easily succumbed to gun fire and were easily manipulated. Still, they can use guns, which are shown to be effective at killing or deterring Aliens. Rocket launcher Flood are hell scary and flamethrower Flood were supposed to appear in CE IIRC. And they can see in the dark (CE level Keyes). The rof and accuracy wasn’t as bad as it was in H3 iirc so a whole bunch of feral Flood with guns could probably handle a few Aliens.

Gravemind Flood Combat Forms (human, brutes, elites) vs. Alien infantry (drones, runners, warriors)
In H3, Flood could succumb to melee but that was obviously for gameplay reasons. H2 Flood were shown to be fast and immensely powerful with their whips. They could operate vehicles, climb up walls, access the homing feature of rocket launchers. As for the Aliens, they are so distinct from each other that I’m still leaning towards them.

Flood Pure Forms vs. Predalien
Predalien wins simply because I’m biased and hated fighting Pure Forms.

Juggernaut vs. Newborn
Now Juggernauts are the real deal, what Flood should have been. They leap high, they knock over scenery objects as if they were cardboard cylinders. They follow you to the ends of the earth and if they had the ground stomping effect of Guta, they’d be perfect! Newborn, despite lacking size, decapitated an Alien queen. Both play with their victims and you want to stay the -Yoink- away from them because they can be deceiving (Juggernauts have long reach and are very fast). I don’t know who to vote for. :’(

Juggernaut vs. new Alien in Prometheus (damn you Wikipedia!)[I haven’t watched Prometheus yet so I don’t know]

Yeah, I noticed some slight parallels when I saw Prometheus, too. Was a fantastic movie, by the way.

Alien vs Predator: Requiem… Planet Requiem
Engineers… Forerunners
Flood… Xenomorphs
CSM Johnson… SGT Apone
Colonial Marines… UNSC Marines

Their are so many similarities!

I think they should just make a huge crossover games and movies LOL

Oh God yes! I can already see it now.

6 converging campaigns: Spartan, Elite, ODST, Alien, Predator, Marine

> Spartan - 1 man wrecking crew with a little support from allies
> Elite - diversity of allies to help you (Hunter, Brute, other Elites, Grunts, Jackals), activities of individual species (i.e. eating, resting, signaling)
> ODST - tactical team-based combat, stealth (silenced guns, unique grenades, VISR and more!), Halo Wars vehicles
> Alien - initially big numbers at the start (make use of them wisely), distinctive abilities (including fear, intimidation), stealth (darkness, speed)
> Predator - solitary lone wolf, stealth (camo, vision modes, speed), cqc weapon variety, hiding traces of activity, blow stuff up
> Colonial marine - often on your own, firepower (mechs, auto-turrets, flamethrower, power weapons)

Unlockable campaigns (not necessarily connected to main plot):

> Flood - building up numbers, accessibility (use any gun, use any ground vehicle), ambushes. Can play all types of Flood (except Carriers).
>
> As an infection form, ability to exit a combat form for a better one.
> As a combat form, ability to use any weapon, high leap, melee can infect or kill unshielded enemies
> As a pure form, ability to change into any of the 6 pure forms
> As juggernaut (only on certain levels), possess huge leap height, knock stuff around, bringing down Enforcers, possibly fight on par with Scarabs, fight mechs, swat Aliens
>
> Mercenaries - like in Predators
>
> Johnson - early missions (sniping with Stanchion), escape from the Flood, gondola ride and securing Installation 05 Library, attempt to disable third tower barrier

Extremely likely to fail but I would add it to my collection anyway just for the sightseeing and ensuing epicness.

Also, I’d like to see some more ONI activity in Halo games. Even before Glasslands, there’s been some shady work involving them. It’s time we see them in their true light instead of being mindless drones “just following orders”.

Wow indeed.
