Halo AA Debate: AA's as pick-up vs Loadout vs AA removal

This is a debate to have AA’s as a pick-up(similar to Mlg), keeping AA loadouts, or removing AA’s. Politely discuss your thoughts.

I like it the way it is personally. MLG’s pick up thing is unique, but it doesn’t tend to work as well in other gametypes.

I think that without a title update, the game needs armor abilities. However, I’d prefer that the game be updated and armor abilities be completely removed from the game. Some may actually be good as pickups on the map though. Evade and hologram would work well that way.

Preference: AA’s as pick-up

I think this is a good choice. It balances gameplay and it makes players “earn” their AA’s like in Halo 3 with the equipment system. But it also treats AA’s as a weapon or kind of like a power-up. I also believe that it will increase kill-times and make the game more fast-paced. I prefer gametypes that are 6v6 or lower to have AA’s as a pick-up.

I prefer Armor Abilities as Loadouts. As Dual Wielding was new in Halo 2, brought back in Halo 3, Equipment was new in Halo 3, brought back in the form of Armor Abilities in Halo: Reach.

Take them out, it’d be just like Halo 2. Make them into pick-ups, it’d be just like Halo 3.

The problem with equipment in Halo 3 is that if you even get to the equipment or power-up that you want, you have to hold on to it and wait for the best moment to use it, that is, if you don’t get killed first. On another hand, you might get said equipment, hold onto it, but forget that you have it on you.

Loadouts let you chose which Armor Ability you want, depending on the situation, depending on how you play, depending on which AA you are best with.

Well it would work best with Objective and Ranked Slayer.

Spawning with them in some playlist is a good idea. Tho bungie felt the need to shove it down every playlists throat where it didnt belong. I hope 343 will remove the spawning ones from playlist where it does not belong because that is what is ruining the game. Instead of every one armor locking it would be a few not that often. Same goes with the others. FF should keep spawning and games like objective swat and invasion too. Tho slayer it is getting killed and many other gametypes too. Bungie was too busy doing what they wanted to make it different instead of fun. Again i hope 343 will fix this.

I feel that load-outs altogether just aren’t what Halo is about, but things change I guess.

It depends for me. I like the load outs, but I would also like to be able to switch on the fly if I see one laying on the ground from the dead bodies.

But, AA’s are just weird and don’t feel like Halo to me, so I really don’t care about the AA.

Any 4v4 or smaller playlist should have AA’s as pickups. Now anything else can have AA as loadouts. I however don’t really care for AA’s and only use Sprint.

It depends on map and the gametype. I don’t want only sprint cause then it would just copy CoD.

I think most people’s issues with AAs will be diminished slightly if they were pickups.

This is true. The combat AA’s are Evade and Armour Lock.

For 4v4 objective such as 1 Flag or 1 Bomb the abilities really ought to be pick-ups. Currently movement of the bomb is totally -Yoinked!- up as the carrier just cannot move anywhere near the speed of his teammates or enemies, added to the fact they walk slower with the bomb and add that to the fact there’s no bomb tossing.

It really makes for a gametype where need for skill is lacking.

I think they should be pick ups. They don’t have a positive affect when everyone has it, I think their benefits should be worked for.

Evade as a pickup works well in MLG.

I agree. AA’s should be treated as weapons/power-ups like in Mlg.
