Infinite isn’t working out. Never said it was. They just skipped the events of Halo 6 because of the disaster of Halo 5 and we are left with Infinite.
Infinite skipped Halo 6 with the time jump.
“We learned our lesson with MCC, 5 will be better”
“We learned our lesson with 5, Infinite will be better”
“We learned our lesson with Infinite, 7 will be better”
It’s like Groundhog Day
Halo 8: the search for halo 7
Just looked at the Steam charts. For August Halo Infinite averaged 3,500 players while Farming Simulator 2021 averaged 12, 200 players.
Back in the Halo 3 days I don’t ever remember seeing the active looking for game population below 100,000 for the first couple of years. Pretty sad.
We calculate it differently now + it was monoplatform. Now we have to see the population across two different platforms. The playerbase has never been 3,500 players. It has always been at least double what Steam shows.
Almost half a year? Isn’t it… ten months?
Didn’t we think seasons would be three months which would put Season 3 at summer this year but it’s pushed way back into… March I think it was.
Anyway, yeah, we didn’t know much back then.
This thread has indeed aged interestingly.
Elden Ring has about 31k players right now. Crazy to think that a full-priced game has more players than a free to play one. Hell, Farming Simulator is a game with a significantly smaller fanbase than Halo, and if that’s getting higher player counts by the margain of thousands something’s up.
if you don’t mind me asking, where do you get your player counts? I’ve seen different sites with wildly different count estimates.
we mainly get them from Steamcharts
But people keep buying them so nothings going to change lol
Farming simulator on steam alone had triple the players. So if we at least double both numbers, farming simulator still has triple the amount of players as Halo Infinite. That in and of itself is a horrible sign
Seeing Halo Infinite’s player count dropping gives me a sliver of hope. Hell even Battlefield 2042 arguably the worst game of 2021 is now doing better than Halo Infinite.
Nah the battlepass isnt going anywhere any time soon. The best we’ll get in the near future is slight variation of it, kind of like the way MCC did it. Not exactly a battlepass but still the same essence. It’s too profitable and its too easy of a solution for a simple progression system. Every single game on the market is plagued by this singular system. You can blame fortnite for that. Hell, even the game that tried to tear down fortnite gave into the same business practice. PUBG launched purely as a battle royale. Even after trying to sue fortnite back into the stone age, they still caved and started doing a seasonal system with a carbon copy battlepass. Its everywhere now. And its just more money in the pockets of the producers
I hope Halo 7 is just Halo. Hopefully the Endless do something with time and we reset the Halo universe and go back to the original concept and play an amazing linear story driven FPS with a full featured multiplayer suite. Maybe throw in some Firefight for good measure.
I’ve commented on a few different posts since a few months after the game came out. At first voicing concerns, then a little later frustrations, then finally straight up admonishment of 343’s handling of everything at this point. I want to be very clear with what I say next, so that there can be no misinterpretation, no naive fanboys or trolls trying to poke holes or be contrarian nuisances, I want this to be understood clearly, so that the sensible members of this community can understand what is truly needed for this game at this point and maybe, maybe somehow we can get this across to 343 and sooner than later it can be fixed. The issue right now, and I used the singular for a reason, is not events, it’s not maps or content, and it certainly is not anything to do with cosmetics or rewards or any of those tertiary distractions. It’s simply the playability and functionality of this game. I’ve played every halo game for the last 20 years, extensively. I’ve also played dozens of other top tier multiplayer games as well in that time. No game is perfect, all have flaws in designs, server issues, game mechanic issues, etc. Some have been worse than others, but in this current age, with the time and resources 343 had to make this game, there are no excuses for its current state and there certainly are no excuses for the decisions they are making when these issues are still present. Campaign coop won’t save this game, nor will new maps, nor battle pass event nonsense. These things won’t rectify the issues that I experience in nearly every MP match I play, wherein I am 2 shot, my grenades explode on peoples direct body’s to little effect, my sticks bounce off or go through people, rockets are utterly inconsistent at best and melees might as well not even be attempted and half of my deaths are when I’m well behind cover. That’s a short list and if you play this game enough and are at a skill level of average or above, you don’t need me to explain further, you know how the game should perform. It’s not just widespread at this point, it’s the norm, it’s so common and prevalent that I consider the game to be unplayable. I stopped playing for a bit, came back to try again and honestly it’s worse now. It’s now been shelved for good, I simply cannot support a game that is this broken, with a developer who seems to be actively ignoring the truly important issues. Desync, server issues, lag, gameplay mechanics, I don’t care what people call them or the technically correct way to label them, the game does not play correctly way more often than not…it’s as simple as that. Coming up on a year now and still this issue that should never have been present anywhere near to this extent is still raging onwards….it’s simply abhorrent. It makes me so angry when I see the posts about cosmetics or the battle pass or literally anything other than fixing the major, truly important and should be the number one priority for 343, of fixing the games broken mechanics. At its core, the game is awesome, sans desync, sans free to play nonsense, they have a great foundation, but they built it on loose sand and seemingly have no plans of fixing that anytime soon (maybe not ever). And the thing I always come back to in my mind is this: I have no idea if I’m even decent at this game any longer. If I’m being 2 shot, if my nades don’t damage people when they explode directly on them, or my melees with a resounding thud in peoples back don’t count as an assassination (or worse yet don’t even register on their side), then it stands to reason that when I have good plays, when I outshoot two people in a 2 on 1 fight against me and “out BR” them both for the double kill….did I actually earn that? Or was this game simply not working correctly for them in that moment, and for me in that moment it did not have any issue. Its broken to the point where you can’t even truly tell (at least not consistently) at a certain skill level and above if you truly beat or outplayed someone. That’s not a game I can justify playing at this point. I was excited for this game ever since it was announced, and to say that my bubble has been burst and the excitement has been killed, would be an understatement. No more defending the makers, no more excuses, it’s a simple consumer based world we live in when you boil it down. Either someone made something that works and is viable, or they didn’t. If they didn’t, they can then fix it (promptly and appropriately) or let it drag on and go the route of either apathy or ineptitude….there is no middle. Trying is fine, unless you keep doing it with no positive results…then it’s failure. At this point their focus is scattered at best and this free to play nonsense has muddied the once pure waters of this amazing series. It’s just, truly a shame…
slipspace engine r the best engine ever tho
How so? I really don’t think that game titles are determined by the time they happen, as Halo 4 takes place several years after Halo 3. Plus, the events between Guardians and Infinite were fairly bland, and what little actually happened was covered by books.
Before I say anything, just know that I read your post from beginning to end thoroughly. Anyways, I just wanted to say that I don’t agree, nor do I disagree with you really. While I’ve definitely experienced what you’ve described, it hasn’t been nearly as bad for me. I’m running an original Xbox one that’s been used a lot over about 8 or so years, and if I’m being honest, it’s not doing too good. I have a spotty internet connection from a cheap provider that doesn’t have it’s individual room connectors set up yet. Even with all of these problems, the gameplay issues are there, but once again, nothing compared to what you have described. I really don’t know what else to say. I definitely think it should be fixed, especially if your experience is that bad, but I definitely don’t think that makes all the other issues irrelevant.
Well, I would say you are very fortunate considering the circumstances. I know I am far from the only person dealing with game breaking, persistent desync issues. Based on the accounts on these various forums alone it’s rampant, although yes I have seen others say it’s not as bad for them, so clearly it’s not ubiquitous. I do not think all other issues of any kind are irrelevant. I simply think this issue is affecting so many people and is significant enough, while relating to the direct functionality of the game, that it should have taken precedence well before now. This is of paramount importance to correct, and no amount of attention or fixes for other unrelated issues will change that this needs to be prioritized. All issues have merit, but there should be a hierarchy and 343 is scattershot and virtually unresponsive to these major flaws. I won’t pretend to not be envious of your lack of problems in this regard, I would truly love to be enjoying this game and having it function appropriately, but that has been so far removed from my actual experience to this point.
