After reading articles and seeing what product that we finally got. It did land on its feet I will give 343 props for that. Especially the campaign even though they cut 2/3 of it and it was a hot garbage mess in 2019 and it took them a year delay to figure it out. But I feel that Halo infinite will be abandoned. And in two to three years they’ll drop Halo 7.
The main issue that they’re having is the slip space engine which is technically still the saber engine(they’re still combat evolved and Halo 5 code in the engine) that is a complete hot garbage mess of an engine.
I mean they even considered using the unreal engine. But they didn’t want to pony up the money and I can only imagine how awesome this game would have looked and feel if they actually did use that engine.
You’ll hear the developers all the time tell us that it has a UI interface limitation and things are intertwined blah blah blah. If we change one thing we can break the entire game Which I get the feeling that it’s going to be abandoned and they’re going to have to work their butts off to produce a better engine for ease of access giving us more content moving forward. And especially working on the game in general.
Halo infinite is a great standalone game. But like I said because of the engine limitations it is not going to be a very good live service game. But that is my reasoning.
And how large the digital footprint would’ve been. Compression and data allocation was a huge reason for the propriety engine. Don’t forget the accessibility of the engine and limitations it enforces upon user control.
But yeah, it’s only a money issue on one of the most affordable and subsidized prebuilt game engines available.
And within one week (really less than that) we’ll be getting changes that were deemed impossible 2 weeks ago.
I don’t think the game is in as much peril as you suggest it is. And under a little pressure the wrinkles will iron themselves out. Game’s been out in beta for less than a month, game just launched 4 days ago officially.
The game has some issues, they’ll get sorted out as they have been.
I get what you’re saying I do . But don’t tell me you’re one of those beta boys who thought that this game was a beta when it released 3 weeks earlier. Because it wasn’t because we have the exact same content we had 3 weeks ago. Not to mention back in August we brought up all of these problems and nothing’s changed except for they Nerf the ravenger for some reason. Zero updates planned so far. Because the playlist that they are adding is server-side. You look at games like Mass effect the first trilogy used the unreal engine they was able to pump out a masterful game. But EA made BioWare use their frostbite engine and we got Andromeda. So you see where I’m going with this. They had 6 years to work on Halo technically they only worked on Halo for 2 years of actual gameplay development. If you read the articles. So after 6 year delay of Halo this is what two years got us which is pretty good though I would have to admit. Halo is Microsoft’s flagship game. They basically have an unlimited budget and resources there’s no reason why we should get a half baked game. Especially a game that launches without team Slayer. You might find it cute that 343 is listening to us after a week finally giving us a team Slayer playlist which is great because in Halo 5 it took them 7 months to give us an infection playlist.
whiles you do seem to be over exadurating… i will say, if changes ain’t made quickly. this game wont have a 10 year live service. and even then ‘10 years’ just sounds like marketing smoke and mirrors to me. they’l probably have another halo game being made or out the doors in half the time
I honestly doubt this game will last past February. Considering the small amount of MP content and a satisfying XP system which they should include challenges for Campaign to add replay value. I don’t think Coop will save it once it’s released since there’s no incentive to replay it (other than fun).
MCC really did the challenge system very well in comparison to Infinites.
This game won’t last 10 months let alone 10 years. 343i have serious issues with the way they have designed and implemented this game…and the really stupid thing is that they designed and implemented everything in this game themselves so I have very little patience or understanding when their community representatives whine about how hard it is to make changes or how the game isn’t in a place where they wanted it to be…they thought of, designed, created and implemented all this crap themselves!
Rumours has it that they, before release, already have an unannounced Halo game in the workings.
Now of course, in 3 years it may not be released, but 7 too sounds like shooting a little over.
If it’s true I’d assume 4 or 5 years, if things don’t work out with Infinite.
While I would much prefer just having another game come out after a few years, I just don’t see that happening as this game is really embracing that live service model.
Their woes with the engine are well documented but at the end of the day that’s not the devs decision. It’s microsofts and this game so far is fairly successful.
I really hope that we do get a continuation of the story in the form of another game or even just a game sized expansion though because I really love singleplayer games and Halo is one of the best singleplayer shooter campaigns out there.
I don’t want this game to end up like GTAV and exclusively focus on the online component side of things and end up waiting another 6+ years for more singleplayer Halo content.
HALO should be made using iD tech engine.
It seems to be able to draw beautifully and at high speed, and the DOOM series has already been made.
It seems that there are also experienced engineers.
I know Infinite was made at a number of sacrifices (HW2 bug fix abandonment and cooperation from many XBOX Game Studios companies).
Each of them did their best to complete the work that is difficult to complete in the current 343.
I’m happy. However, I want you to look back once and get back the corrections of HW2 etc.
The thing here is that what value would a sequel present? No reason to believe it would fair any better than Infinite, not to mention that it would probably just end up with similar design choices, so I think the possibility of a sequel is far far out. 10 years is not too outlandish.
I mean I hope I’m wrong I really want this game to succeed I really really do so far it has landed on its feet and I have to get 343 props for that considering their hot mass turn over that they had to deal with. Microsoft had to pay $85 million to contractors because they were treating them as long-term employees and that’s the reason why they fired the contractors after 18 months and hired somebody new and this is the mess that we got. I really want them to add on to the campaign I don’t see any reason why they shouldn’t of course. I’m no game designer but I hopefully they have the tools to do that like have a mission with the spirit of fire shows up on zeta Halo and we just continue along with that like that’s what I want to see. It shouldn’t be too difficult on the multiplayer side by just adding new maps and new game modes and new weapons they did that in Halo 5 no problem but I’m worried about the campaign and them adding on to that. Are them not adding on fast enough because they don’t have the tools without breaking the game.
When it released?
Sure, but challenges were implemented later, no?
A system they themselves made and implemented.
After that, making Infinite’s system.
That depends.
Value for them would be having an insurance if Infinite fails as to not have to abandon all Infinite plans and start from scratch with a new one.
Sequel? Maybe, maybe not.
If Infinite fails, they have something in the works to continue with at that eventually.
Infinite lives for 10 years, they have something they can announce and have ready somewhat quickly.
Exactly so they’ll end up doing it with Infinite? Infinite’s release is not a death sentence?
If Infinite fails (as in doesn’t make enough money/is very unpopular) then expect the sequel (assuming MS greenlights one) to be drastically different then anything we’ve seen. It’ll probably just be a Battle Royale or whatever is popular in a few years.
So you believe that the small number of devs that were still working on MCC were the ones in charge of executive decisions for Infinite?
Its MP is basically just Halo 3 but less annoying, and its SP is definitely CE influenced. Halo 4/5 are unique, Infinite is just too similar to past Halo titles.
I think they missed something when they separated the campaign. They should have called the multiplayer aspect, Halo Infinite, and the campaign, Halo 6. Then they can focus on bringing new games in the series 7, 8, etc. and continuously improve the MP infinitely, bringing larger updates every few years, and small fixes and improvements throughout.
