Halo 6 Should be the Same? Here's Why:

Halo 5 has a problem: To many veteran players, it is too different. I feel this way as well. Of course, I have seen differing opinions. Some vets like new Halo and some n00bs prefer old Halo but in general what I see are old players arguing with the new ones about the new design. One of the biggest issues being Sprint as an ability. So while commenting on a post a night or two ago I wrote this below. I’d like to get people’s opinions on this. I’m not here to insult or argue. If you take offense to anything in this post, it wasn’t my intention and also, you are probably too easily offended. Wall of text ensues.

Upon reading some of these people’s posts saying that 343 can or can’t appeal to both new and old players, I was blinded by a heavenly light, a genius idea gifted from the great beyond. JK just had a neat lightbulb moment. WHAT IF: 343 continued with what they are doing (which I hate and haven’t played in months) and released a spinoff series, that was CLASSIC style. Maybe not necessarily prequels, but just OTHER Halo universe stories with the more traditional style of play. Throw in customs and a few multiplayer playlists, perhaps a forge and I guarantee you it would sell. Would the fanbase be split? Yes. Would the community separate? Somewhat, but it would actually remedy the current loss of players who like the classic Halo, increase sales, and quell a lot of the fighting in the forums.
Let’s just call it Halo Classic. They don’t have to keep that up to date as their biggest and baddest, they can reserve that for their new crap they want to push. Halo Classic could be set to a 5 year release schedule, meaning they can put it on the backburner and still release a quality game. The art, music, and gameplay elements could all essentially be taken from Halo 2 Anniversary. Good graphics, classic gameplay, but with NEW adventures. Perhaps some new twists on old situations or the great one-liners referencing the old trilogies or toss in some equipment from Halo 3 here and there but a nostalgic experience like that would sell just fine, cost less in production, ease the community, and give all types of players something fresh. The new players are obviously prioritized, and that’s OK because that’s just business. But when I see people who like Halo 4 and 5 telling those of us who prefer 1, 2, 3 or Reach to go play the MCC, I get a bit agitated because those experiences are old. We’d like something new that still retains all the old and familiar elements. 343’s New Halo could have done that but they changed it all, from art to music and even the gameplay elements. Sure, there are old characters and old weapons but that is all. There is very little old halo feel left. SOME, but for me it feels more like an odd mixture of Halo, Titanfall, and Destiny.
*Edit: Also, those of us who don’t like Halo 4 and 5 shouldn’t be told to go play MCC, there’s almost no one playing it and the MM times are horrid. Halo 3 sometimes has people online but I haven’t seen it in month, and Reach is the only Bungie Halo left still getting up to 10,000 players on weekends, but even that is dwindling quickly, and there are a lot of people now on Reach who blatantly cheat, what with the game being old and the population being low.
*Edit 2: Abilities, new maps, and new weapons could be introduced for freshness in Halo Classic as long as they don’t interfere too much with the traditional style of play. No insta kill abilities like spartan charge or ground n pound, and no god mode abilities like armor lock and we should be fine. Keep it strategic or movement based as far as abilites, that would prevent the pacing from being too slow without breaking anything. Again, nothing insane. Thus, Halo 6 should keep the current style and evolve from there while Halo Classic keeps the vets around for the next few years. Eventually the vets will phase out and when that happens they can just go ahead and close the spin off series, even if Halo classic only lasts for say 1-3 games it would be an amazing ride. I honestly believe everyone wins this way, but perhaps some of you can point out plot holes.

Sounds lame. Sprints been around for a while now and halo 5 has been rising in populartiy sooo there will always be poeple who complain and whine why their game isnt the same anyone. Ive been playing since halo 2 and i had good memories but thats what they are memories take away the nosetaliga and other games will peak your interest. With new more advanced games coming out halo and its macinics will look really anitqeish. Bungie noticed and thats why halo reach and 3 are really diffrent. Halo 4 was a failed attempt but i think 343 are learning.

Sprint was an ability in Reach, which meant it was actually a thought-provoking addition to the game. Not everyone had it at the same time, so it wasn’t crazy fast. It had a nice pacing to it. Halo 3 and Reach’s mechanics look and feel just like 1 and 2 just with improvements. The art style of the originals was far better as well, the new style honestly kills 70% of the game for me. Even if 343 just made their game look artistically similar to the older ones it would be a huge improvement. I’m not sure how you think a classic game spinoff would be lame. I’m also not sure how you’ve come to the conclusion that Halo 5 is actually rising in popularity. It’s usually doesn’t even make the Xbox Live top 25 anymore except for every now and then on weekend. And it isn’t just nostalgia that interests me in a Halo Classic. It’s also the slower gameplay. It makes each encounter a real battle instead of bang bang dead. Split second decision making is fun and all but seriously every single game has it now, and Halo used to be the exception. But now Halo is just another typical FPS with nothing to set it apart. Besides, as I stated in the OP, a Halo Classic spinoff wouldn’t effect those who actually like 343’s new style. I still consider Halo 5 a failure, as the campaign is horrible and short. The gameplay itself is fun but is still pretty far out from feeling like Halo should, and gives me no reason to come back for more after just a few hours, and the grindy microtransaction-y-ness also is no fun. It also takes up an ungodly amount of space on the console. I deleted it after it hit 90 gigs worth. Halo 5 is not worth that much space, I now have 3 other games in it’s place. A classic would not look antique, unless you feel like Halo 2 Anniversary looks “antique” when those graphics are pretty darn close to today’s standard. Good enough for a classic spinoff anyways. If nothing else, 343 could add classic playlists to their new games but they won’t even do that! And besides, who truly deep down DOESN’T want say, a classic spinoff with a short campaign centering around Arbiter between Halo 2 and 3 with a classic style multiplayer? Or maybe an adventure with Chief in between 1-2. or a Fall of Reach (centered around Blue Team this time.) You can’t tell me that at least the last one doesn’t sound awesome.

Halo 5 feels like too much of a chore to play for 3 or more hours consistently I only play big team which has horrible maps and wzff which is so frustrating with OP a.I and dumb teammates

I feel similar. It just doesn’t keep me coming back the way old Halo did. The longest time I spent playing this Halo was 2 hours, straight. Even with campaign I beat it in like 30 minute installments. With old Halo, I would stay up for 24 hours straight when the new one came out and 2 player split screen the entire campaign with each of my friends until I had beaten it with everyone I knew. Then crash for a bit, go to work, and the next night come back and start slugging in multiplayer. I just don’t feel the need to put aside any time at all for Halo 5. It takes up far too much storage space too, I deleted it. That’s why I feel like a classic would be a hit. I would literally take off for that or go straight through a weekend eating up a GOOD classic Halo, or even a Classic style playlist in halo 5. That why I think Halo 6 should stay the same as 5 as far as style and gameplay and then we can get a classic spinoff. That way both camps get the experiences they crave.
