I always loved the art style of the halo games leading up to halo 4. While the 343 art style looks ok, I miss the look of the original elites and Spartans. The halo wars 2 art style is the perfect balance betwteen the two. It looks beliveable and real, the armor looks protective…unlike the halo 5 armor where nearly the whole stomach area is exposed. The menu for the HW2 beta has a spartan that has the combined look of bungie and 343…and it looks really really good. The colors do look a bit to solid though, with some detailing and by making the armor look more beaten up, the perfect harmony between Bungie and 343 can be struck.
Check it out
I thought that the spartan on the beta menu screen was amazing looking. If 343i adapt that as their look moving forward I would be really happy.

It looks really really good. They have a great style in their hands, and it would be a shame if it went to waste.
I wouldn’t like if 343 just “copying” the old art style. They have very cool ideas and designs that I love. If they combine the two styles (bungie + 343) it is gonna be sick!

This is exactly what I’d like to see too. Both have fairly decent styles individually, but I think 343 can make it work if they mesh both together.
Give Chief MKVII already. You’d think that his current armor would be susceptible to Cortana’s galactic hacking considering she made the firmware updates prior to 4.

That’s what I said Halo wars 2 was.

Mk.VII armor is no better than GEN2 armor, albeit a lot more costly, so Mk.VII armor, and GEN1 by extension, is obsolete. Chief also got an armor change after the events of Halo 4. He’s now wearing GEN2.
I’d be fine if future Halo games looked like Halo 2 Anniversary’s campaign, though Halo Wars 2 is a very nice adaptation of Bungie’s art style.
If they combined the designs they made for Halo 5: Guardians (Spirit, Phantom, Banshee, Ghost, etc.) with the classic designs we see in Halo Wars 2, they’d make quite the beautiful masterpiece.

See now I agree with this for the exact reasons stated and then some.
343 did such a good job of upping Halo2’s looks blending some of their own stay plus Bungies that I wish they’d hi that route for all future titles.
Everything just looked fantastic in HW2, hopefully in future halo installments 343 goes back to more medal looking armors rather than the more plastic armor they have now.
Well I heard 343i were in charge of things like the art style.
Absolutely agree. Even if they just used the art style for the covenant I would be happy. I personally find 343’s artistic take on the covenant repulsive and would love to see the classic designs, especially the elites, return.

You can see the changes in art style particularly with the covenant. Bungie’s covenant use blue and purple tones while 343’s covenant use solely purple.
I don’t see a reason why this shouldn’t happen. It makes sense lore-wise since the Guardians essentially took everything modern offline. If Infinity can regroup with SoF, then they could potentially share the same old tech, including the armors. I could see Chief using a green version of that modified Mark IV we saw in the menu for Halo Wars 2. Hell, I could even see Red Team getting their armor upgraded to feature later MJOLNIR standards (has to be at least up to Mark V standards), or maybe they could even wear the Mark IV variant we can use in Halo 5. Wishful thinking, but I could definitely see this happening.

Yeah, also 343’s Covenant exhibit a lot of insectoid and chitinous designs in their armour and vehicles as opposed to the bulbous and regal designs of Bungie’s. I personally do not like this, it’s like 343 are trying to emphasise the fact that they’re aliens by using the cliche’d insectoid alien trope, and in doing so soiled Bungie’s classic designs.

Bungie made aliens feel different, like nothing else before, now elites feel like everything else.
