so i see there are articles already going stating that its confirmed halo 6 will be on pc but here’s the thing why would i buy halo 6 if i don’t know what happened in halo 5 seeing as how it never got a full pc release. halo 5 and mmc need pc releases or else 6 just makes no sense to people.
I’m pretty sure it’s mostly due to Microsoft’s initiative to have digital purchases applied to both Xbox and PCs, meaning any first party title you purchase digitally in the Xbox/Windows store will be playable on either platform. This is a great move on their part, to be honest and I don’t think they’re targeting new players with this particular move. The primary people who will purchase Halo 6 on PC are probably people like me, who grew up playing Halo on the Xbox, but now own and game on a PC. I also own an Xbox One too, so it would be extra nice to be able to just hop on it to play with my friend who doesn’t have a good PC.
It also works as a means to entice any new players in seeking the previous titles and perhaps even investing in an Xbox to play them. You mention that you feel that new people to the series wouldn’t pick it up because they haven’t played the others, but at the very least that’s just not entirely true. There are many who might be curious about Halo, but do not have the desire to own an Xbox who would jump at the chance to at least try out the series on PC. Not to mention a lot of PC gamers would most likely play for the matchmaking, which doesn’t require a great deal of knowledge about the lore.
With all that being said – Halo CE and Halo 2 were released for the PC, but I would also like to see MCC and Halo 5 on PC at some point.
