Halo 6 News: Hello everyone. I’ve just finished reading Halo Mythos and with it, although limited, some revelations have been revealed.
For instance, on pages 200-202, which is the end of the book, the Curator (narrator of the book) reveals that he is safe from Cortana on the Ark.
Another quote says the Spirit of Fire, after mysteriously Slipspacing to the Ark in 2559, is quote: “… Safe from the iron fist of Cortana”. This also implies that despite quote “hundreds of Guardians” have been relocated throughout the Galaxy, it appears there are none (yet) near the Ark. In fact, the Ark is actually out of her reach although the Curator implies she may eventually reach the Ark one day because he fears of he remains she will find him and corrupt him.
Every Halo fan, I am proud to debunk the rediculous idea that Cortana is NOT activating the rings because the book confirms she is definitely NOT preparing one on the Ark. It is out of her reach. Also I have the strong belief that Cortana is being controlled by something…
However, to conclude the this article, if Cortana is unable to reach the Ark, she is unable to activate the Halos. This book confirms Cortana is incapable for the time being.
Halo Wars 2 News:
I’d like to mention Hidden Experia’s theory that the book Halo Mythos implies the return of the flood is unlikely. Knowing 343, the return of the Flood is extremely doubtful and extremely obvious that the new threat they mention is the Banished.
Take a look at some of these quotes: “another threat” on the “surface” of the Ark… This "threat raked the surface [of the Ark] for secrets and weapons]. (Obviously Banished, duh.) It even says: “In the shadows of the Ark a ‘banished’ legacy of the Shattered Covenant… lusts for power.” "And now the Ark’s defences stir, sensing the shadow of a threat that moves in spaces Her eyes can not see (implying the Banished whilst on the Ark are out if her reach). Intent on sizing this factory of the Forerunners (the Banished’s objective).

If they don’t reintroduce the flood in halo 6,that would be a huge wasted opportunity, but knowing 343 I wouldn’t be surprised if they excluded flood from the campaign again

How can she rule an empire if she activates the Halos? There will be nothing left for her agenda otherwise live eternally in the Domain forever with nothing else into exist?

Or use the Halos in conjunction with a Composer like the Didact planned to do in order to compose beings on a larger scale. That’s one option. Barring that, having the Halos in her possession just gives her more of a bargaining chip in keeping order.

Tempting to believe that trend but it’s too obvious in my opinion. There must be more to it all and there’s not enough information to confirm any theory.
EDIT: Also, when did the Domain become a place for remote activation and command central of all Halos? That’s the Ark’s purpose. The domain doesn’t even guarantee the location of anything except so far Guardians it seems. The domain has been only described as having immense knowledge and granting extreme power.

Yes. Not really relevant here since I’m quoting her from Halo 5.
There’s a myriad of theories out there tying Cortana to the flood and the Gravemind and their agenda. Could she perhaps be taking control of the Halos to prevent them from being fired and cutting off the Flood’s food source?

At the very least, gaining control of the Rings will be the ultimate nuclear deterrent. You don’t even need to fire them at full power, given what Cryptum shows us. But there is also the obvious Flood factor. 343i cannot ignore the Flood forever, and we know that with Halo rings inevitably comes the Flood, whether by accident or purpose.

She could move a halo close to a specific planet and use it in a more targeted way.

Plus the halos can be fired in a low power setting to affect a single system, like was done to the prophets home world.
I understand your point, OP, but I don’t agree with it fully. I’m with some other responders here… I can’t see 343i wasting the opportunity to reintroduce the Flood even if it’s in the final moments of Halo 6. It’s be a grossly wasted plot point… I do believe the Banished will play an ever growing role in the next game or two though.

Fair… I think it’s purpose, albeit an unsuccessful one, was to show that Fireteam Osiris is an elite unit. I enjoyed Jul’s character, and while his death was sudden and unnecessary, he started out as more of an secondary/tertiary character anyway. The Flood is, well, the Flood. Especially with the Janus Key gone and that arc done (at least until it pops up again somewhere), I’d say the Flood is orders of magnitude more important to Halo’s universe than Jul, so if 343i don’t reintroduce the Flood at some point, I personally think it would be a much larger ‘fail’ on their part.

Jul seemed to be the classic back up character they leave simmering on the back burner in case they needed to use him. In all reality, he could have been removed and replaced with “random storm Covenant captain X” and it wouldn’t have affected the greater story much.

Good article. However, I must point out that each Halo can activated from the control room that each comes standard with. HALO CE thru HALO 3 shows this along with all Halo lore. Granted the Halos were on standby in Halo 3 but the standby mode was halted at the end of the game when the HALO RING 4B fired inside the ARK. That would then give control of each ring back to the control rooms of each ring. Simple mechanics really but I could be wrong.
