Halo 6 merch and codes

With all the posts about what we want in halo 6 it got me thinking what would everyone like to see for products released before the game that give you in game items?

I’m talking how halo 4 we had Doritos and mountain dew gave us double xp. Halo 5 only seemed to have hot pockets and mega blocks that gave you either req points or a req pack. Which didn’t amount to much in my opinion.

I would like to see a return of Mountain dew and Doritos giving you in game items or exclusive color scheme or emblem. I have heard some say they want healthier snacks to have codes for halo 6 such as bottled water. One idea was to buy a six pack of soda and get a code to add it to forge mode… can see that being used to build big block models made out of mountain dew six packs or 12 packs. Maybe toys could give us the item you bought from it to use in game. Like a exclusive banshee with a certain color scheme.

Yeah, please stop with the unhealthy crap. Not only are Doritos and Mountain Dew gross, I personally feel like they perpetuate a stereotype of people who play video games being unhealthy, unkempt slobs who consume too much junk food and soda. Or at least some marketing genius decided that’s how gamers actually are, therefore Mountain Dew and Doritos are their favorite foods. Either way, as someone who plays Halo, it almost feels insulting. I’m not a fan of bottled water, but at least that would be healthier.

I don’t mind mountain dew or doritos to be honest, and while i’m not in great shape i’m not in horrible shape. It is my gaming fuel atleast during launch week.

Do you have any ideas on what healthy foods you would like to see??

Maybe some off brand doritos and mountain dew?

I think Doritos, Hot Pockets, and Mountain Dew know their consumers are a good percent of gamers. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of a healthier selection should gamer fuel come back, but I doubt anyone besides quick microwaveable foods will sponsors Halo.

You don’t have to defend yourself. It’s completely fine if you like that stuff, and I don’t mean any offense towards people who like junk food (and I do too, occasionally). I am only trying to say the whole Doritos/Mountain Dew promotion really rubbed me the wrong way, because it showed what those companies really think of people who play video games, and their eating habits. It’s fine if you use junk food as gaming fuel, and I do that too sometimes, but I feel like those promotions painted a certain picture of how they think gamers are, and I didn’t like that.

But then again, I can be sensitive about this stuff. I tend to feel like my intelligence is being insulted when I watch TV commercials, which is why I cut off the cable at home a very long time ago…

I’ve been buying a lot of “Laura’s lean beef” recently, which I use to make burritos and things. It would be awesome if I got double XP for doing that :smile_cat: I’m not sure if that would go over well with gamers in general, but it couldn’t hurt for more people to make home cooked meals instead of Hot Pockets.

You’re probably right, anyway

With Halo 4, there were also codes included in newer books (such as Cryptum and Primordium when they first released) that gave a massive amount of XP points (about 30k per book if I recall correctly.) The codes were in sealed envelopes at the back or middle of the book and you had to check the envelope wasn’t ripped out or open before you bought the book.

Would be nice to have codes in the books again, at the very least, or include codes in the comics on top of it.

And with Halo 5, codes were included in McFarland figures on top of the Mega Blox sets. Albeit, bonus packs and codes in this cycle have been rather lackluster (horrible bronze-level packs that barely gave the equivalent of bronzes) it’s still nice that we even get bonus codes.

It seems like there were more places to get codes compared to Halo 4, which meant the packs couldn’t contain as much as the former.

I agree with you on tv commercials. Hate them myself, they’re so dumb and low brow that they come across as pandering or just lackluster that I stopped watching tv

I had forgotten about the books. Yeah I bought a few books because of the codes for 5. I was going to buy them anyway because I enjoy the lore of halo, but the codes were a nice bonus but they weren’t worth it. I expected codes to contain exclusive gear or something of that kind for in game items. But got a promotion code that wasn’t anything. If possible I would like to see books have codes for halo 6 containing exclusive emblems or armors or something of that. Atleast make it worthwhile to get codes

Flaming Skull Helmet…

That would be cool to see as exclusive item from pre game items… Maybe along with birthday party, lightning effect etc. What do you think the flaming skull should be a code from item wise??

Didn’t really think about it. I was just throwing that out there.

Nothing wrong with that, doubt 343 will see this but doesn’t hurt to throw around ideas too see what us the community would like to be able to buy before the game releases and what we would like to see in game from those codes.

Not trying to bump my own post but had something to add. someone said how about everyone who bought a certain item would get their GT in the game somehow like on a memorial wall in a multiplayer map or something like that. I’m not sure how 343 would accomplish that but with maps being added later and what they did with torque in H5 it’s possible.
