Halo 6 going old school

If rumors are to be believed, the UNSC has to dive into some older tech to battle skynet. So Blue team probably has to wear their old armor to avoid getting frozen in the air by Jedi Cortana.

How badass would it be to have Halo 6 start off in a similar fashion to Halo 2? Blue team is in an armory putting on their old MK IV and the camera pans up as John seals his helmet on.

Which do you think the remaining Spartan II’s would be more comfortable getting back inside? MK IV or MK V?

I would kill for Halo 6 to go this route if it meant doing away with sprinting and abilities. What you’ve described would be a great narrative excuse to explain the return to classic Halo gameplay. Honestly, I don’t think an explanation is really necessary to return to traditional Halo gameplay(there was no explanation for Chief suddenly gaining abilities and forgetting how to dual wield). But, if they wanted to offer an explanation, this all would work.

Gosh, wouldn’t that be great? Hopefully they do something like that, I’d honestly just be happy with the old art style coming back. As for your question I think Chief would be more comfortable in V as for the other I really couldn’t say.

I’ve personally been headcanon’ing a scene in my head in which an early battle in H6 leaves the Chief’s GEN2 badly damaged… it’s referenced that a cache of Mark IV parts are available somewhere and are upgradeable to GEN2 specs… Chief disappears for a bit… Blue Team are talking in a later scene, and they all turn and look - John steps into the room in full Mark IV gear looking EXACTLY like Red Team does in HW2, with the big ol’ 117 tag on his chest. Someone on Blue Team makes a smart comment about a blast from the past/never expected to see that again/etc.

Epic.

I’ve never played the old Halo games. In fact Halo 5 is the only one I really got into, but I played Halo 3 ODST (Depressing, that one was). If it went old school, it would be nice for me to get a better feel for this universe and its history.

Im more interested in innovation than returning to what we had before.

I hope they realese Halo 3 remastered at some point so people who like the old art style and movement are content.

The game has come a long way and I hope they continue building on the good things in Halo 5s MP

I meant only in terms of the armor that they wear. I personally enjoy the way Halo 5 plays. If we ignore the campaign, then Halo 5 is a very high water mark in the series. I just thought it’d be cool to see Blue Team in some old armor.

That would be cool, I’ve talked about scenes similar at the start of Halo 6 myself, would also be a nice throw back to start of CE and H2 where you look around and they test your shields.

As far as the abilities go and dropping them entirely, personally I only really want them to remove spartan charge and sprint, im fine with everything else in H5, although I would rework thruster slightly and add a cooldown meter on the HUD, and only have smart scope on precision weapons, but with animations like the CE pistol, H2BR and DMR.

Sprinting isn’t dependent upon the armor, it’s something that Spartans - and people gasp! - can do.

Sprint is a feature. Every single modern game (some not even FPS) include a sprint feature. Halo, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Battlefront, Borderlands, GTA.

It’s time to get used to it.

double-post

Guys…guys…just work with me here…what if they found…a Time Machine…

I honestly prefer Argus MKII than MKI. And many other armors are better in MKII than MKI. That’s just my opinion tho.

Just as long as they somehow destroy every Spartans ability to spartan charge for the rest of eternity and I will be happy.
Halo reach level of customisation would also be greatly appreciated…

This comment doesn’t make any sense considering the two most popular FPS on any platform out there right now don’t have sprint.

Descriptive. Which FPS is that?

Two most popular fps that come to mind: call of duty, battlefield. Both have sprint. Dude all I’m saying is a spartan should be able to sprint. I feel like that’s a pretty basic qualification to be in the military, let alone a SOCOM unit. (But not shoulder charge)

CS:GO, Overwatch.

If Halo turns into CS GO or over watch then I’m checking out. Not a fan.

sprint is detrimental to Halo’s gameplay. Sprinting works just fine in a game like Call of Duty or Battlefield because those games are built around weak individual units. In those games, you can spray an automatic weapon at somebody from long range and kill them quickly. Therefore, there’s a need for a sprint mechanic to allow you to dart quickly to cover.

Halo never had strong long-range automatics until sprint was forced in. Now, we have increased range and effectiveness of automatics, higher aim assist, and stretched out maps. The game is being built around this mechanic at the expense of its identity for no reason other than “that’s what the other games are doing these days”.

Sprinting in Halo is a feature that the armor allows for. That’s why it was an armor ability in Reach, and that’s why in Halo 5, it’s only done with the assistance of the little thruster jets on your armor. Halo 4 didn’t offer any explanation for why Chief could suddenly do it even though he couldn’t before, just like how it offered no explanation for how Chief suddenly forgot how to dual wield.

Funny you mention that. If Halo 6 has sprint, I’m checking out. I’ve mentioned that several times on these forums. I want a Halo game that actually plays like a Halo game. If I want a game with sprinting, I’ll go play Battlefield or something where sprinting actually works with, and complements, the gameplay.

I’ll probably rent Halo 6 from Redbox to see what they do with the story. But, I will not own a copy if it’s once again a Halo game built around the sprint mechanic.

Care to elaborate ?
