Halo 6 Campaign level ideas

Hey guys ONI777777 here. I just want to read what you think 343 should include in halo 6 campaign.
Ideas can range from level design to story input.

Please focus on one point per comment and keep it within the halo universe.
Thank you!

I was thinking about this as I played through Halo 5 again last night just for fun. I honestly have no idea how I would fix the stories mixed directions from Halo 4 to Halo 5.

I want the core group to be MC, Arby, Buck and Vale (really like those characters from games and or books). But I guess now we have to… Go after Cortana or whatever (strongly dislike the direction).

Can’t wait to read Envoy soon to see if I can get any more perspective.

I think one solution would be to show that Cortana is all evil do to the affects that the gravemind had on her.
I feel that Cortana will be a more interesting character if they have her fallow a redemption story ark like medicate bias.

I love would having massive and open worlds that promote exploration, not some linear bullcrap. I would also like the main team to MC, Arbiter, Locke and Vale, but I also want some missions where its just the player by himself/herself. For example, if the Flood return, then I want a mission just by yourself so it will be scarier and challenging on higher difficulties.

The famous Warthog run has to make a return somehow. Super fun to play over and over again.

I would like to see 343 focus on creating maps without any soft kill barriers, invisible barriers, teleportation zones and death barriers. They will only limit exploration and that is no fun. If anyone plays the Halo 5 campaign, there are so many places you think you can explore but there is some kind of barrier in your way which makes it impossible to explore. I would also like to see the area outside the map to be more solid so you don’t fall outside the map for exploration of the maps.

I hope they keep English speaking grunts with their grunty dialog. And bring back Chips Dubbo

Been playing too much Breath of the Wild lately?

A Warthog run is necessary and their must be a good reason for why it is happening.
For example the infinity is crashing into a enemy target and chief has to get to a specific space vehicle to get off the ship.

Linear maps are a part of halo and are not going away. I would like at least one open world type mission that involves some kind of base defense were I can fight enemies but also find cool dialogue and moment between NPCs.
Locks cool but I like buck better. If they bring back the team thing then the team should start being broken up as the story moves along until you are alone as Chief.

Death barriers should be only around things that kill you like a high fall off a cliff or a burning field.
Soft kill barriers should be almost non existent unless their is a reason behind it like a grunt methane cloud or extreme radiation zone.
Invisible barriers and teleportation zones should be no existent because they pull you out of the game when you think you can go some where and are suddenly stopped or suddenly appear some where else on the map.

Death barriers shouldn’t exist in these cases you named. With the “burning field”, you should take damage over time. When it comes to cliffs, a working falling damage algorithm should be able to do the job for you.

Then only proper excuse to have a death barrier is to have it below a certain y coordinate which should be the lowest value where the map can be at like in MC when you are y≤-50 will make you take damage until death. In MC, the defined building area is 0≤y≤255.

I would like at least one level where there is no combat for a majority of the level but just pure world/story building. One of my favorite levels in 5 is the one where we go to a colony via a sky elevator and then walk into the colony and talk to people. It was really neat learning that the one in charge of the colony was an A.I. and how people feel about living under such an A.I. (especially one that had already gone rampant?). And of course there’s a little bit of a mystery because you’re trying to find out what why John would visit that colony.
I think these levels go a long way in establishing what the Halo universe feels like because right now, outside of the books, we don’t really know a whole lot about culture and life on different colonies, life with the Sangheli, or how other species of the Covenant live.

I know this probably sounds very ridiculous. But!.. If Halo 6 is the last game to be made in the main story of the Halo Franchise (IF, that doesn’t mean it will be) then I think it should have the biggest levels, the largest cooperative party size, and at least 20 missions.

So about co-op campaign. Since 343 Industries should be bringing back split screen, I think the campaign should be compatible for a maximum of 16 players. My reasoning behind this is because

at the end of Halo 5, you have Fireteam Osiris and Blue Team together, along with Palmer, the Arbiter and the Swords of Sanghelios, and not to mention Infinity is being chased by Cortana. So this is my idea about the co-op. Here are the sixteen playable characters that I think should be in Halo 6. The Master Chief, the Arbiter, Locke, and Palmer should obviously be the first four. And then of course you have the rest of Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris which are, Frederick, Vale, Kelly, Buck, Linda, and Tanaka. So that’s 10 playable characters already, and they are probably the first to come to your mind (no matter what order). Now I’ve been thinking a while about who the last 6 characters should be, most of them are characters that were last seen in Halo 3 and others are just very often overlooked. I think that the last six characters should be, Chips Dubbo and Marcus Stacker returning as Spartans, N’tho 'Sraom, Usze 'Taham, Vel 'Trokaik, and Rtas 'Vadum. Now when it comes to Solo Campaign, I don’t expect all of these characters to always be together on the same level like in Halo 5. But I think it should be a little more like Halo 3 when it comes to Solo Campaign, but on Cooperative Campaign, I also don’t think it should be exactly like Halo 5. For most of the co-op campaign missions, I think they should spawn 4 players each, in different locations, and they all should fight in order for their paths to meet again. Now not to deviate too much when it comes to the solo campaign, I think the player should be able to switch characters temporarily, to bridge the gap between those different sub-stories.

Now this paragraph has nothing to do with the co-op campaign but these are just characters that I think should return to the Halo franchise one way or another. The other characters I believe should be brought back are, the Didact, Gravemind, 343 Guilty Spark, and Avery Johnson. Also

if you listen to some of the intel you collected from Halo 5, there is actually a mole in the Swords of Sanghelios who is secretly working for Jul 'Mdama’s Covenant and was sent to assassinate the Arbiter. So I have a feeling he might be a big deal in Halo 6.

This has nothing to do with Halo 6, but I just want to put it out there. I think 343 Industries should make a Halo: Reach 2.

I’d really like an intense vehicle run that had a lot of significance like the last mission with CE’s The Maw and H3’s Halo.

I also want some really good Easter eggs.

A mission where and EMP hits a planet with lots of unsc ships occupying its airspace and you have to climb them and go around from ship to ship as they fall to the ground so you can find an operational vehicle

I think the halo 5 campain is fine exept for you can fall of the mapa for random exsploring. That is stupid. I would like to see comaander Palmer in more action too she is great. I kinda wanna actulllay see master cheif and cortana together to that would be GREAT!

It shouldn’t be so hyper-linear… really focus on encounter design. Like think in CE… there were massive battles at key areas of the level, you had more assault driven encounters. Sometimes you had your back against the wall, and then there were sniper sections, stealth sections… there was a variety of encounters and scenarios and it always felt fairly “military” even if it was still epic sci-fi.

It never felt like Bungie was trying too hard to make an epic game. It just was.

For mission designs, a space mission should be added. An all-out assault happens to stop Cortana. First, Infinity gets boarded; you must clear attackers and do objectives to prevent Infinity from being destroyed from the inside. Then, enter any fighter you want, and assist allied ships and destroy enemy ships; you can do however you want to help and destroy. I agree with some to add other scenarios with tank assaults, sniping/recon, rescue, investigations, and end with a warthog run escaping the halo from the halo 5 legendary ending. Yeah, also got to have some open levels like in CE.

For characters, since we got other Spartan 2 teams active (Red, Grey, and possibly Omega?), players should switch characters based on the mission. You’ll be able to play as Chief, Arbiter, Locke, Palmer, Jerome, Jai, and Omega leader(if it’s canon). When solo/first player, you always play as Chief. For others, depending on the mission and the player, you play as whatever character you’re assigned.

I’ll also give ideas on enemies. We got the Created(Promethean, AIs, and Covenant remnant). It’s possible that the Banished would also be present. The flood should also return if they escape in AtN. Lastly, we should add Insurrectionists. It might be a risky move but the UNSC is screwed. Possibly, some Innie hideouts weren’t hit. They’ll take advantage and fight the UNSC or side with the Created as a separate allied faction. Have them equipped with heavy weaponry and other anti-Spartan weapons to compensate for their health.

If they bring in insurrectionists then they should have an ally faction and an extremist enemy faction.

If we end up going to Maethrillian, which, I don’t know how likely that is, but if we did, I should very much like to see more Builder architecture and less…whatever the lore name for the floaty, Tron / Warframe aesthetic we currently have is.

Also; More. Sentinel. Variants. You could make a faction of these if done right, just:

  • Standard - Aggressor (Sentinel Major?) - Protector (Sentinel Healer / Engineer Equivalent) - Enforcer (Anti-Vehicle | Hack/Pilot-able?) - Constructor (Docile / Swarm if attacked) - Vanguard (New, Ground-Based Shock Trooper / Sniper | Jackal Equivalent) - Retriever (Scarab Tier Boss Variant)I think given the uniqueness of the Sentinel forces, especially with the supposed return of the Flood, it would add a nice level of variety to the game, considering the removal of the Covenant as an enemy.
Though tbh I just want more this and less this.
It’d also be nice if we were able to see a Guardian as they were originally envisioned, but I doubt that’ll happen.
