I know there has been a lot of complaints about unlocking armour through req packs in Halo 5, but I doubt 343 will get rid of this method in the next halo.
So, I have a solution that could potentially benefit both parties (the consumer and the developer). The idea, is that you unlock the base armour by playing the game, levelling up, using req points, etc. And once you unlock the base armour, you can unlock its variant via req packs.
E.g. you unlock Centurion armour by playing the game without buying req packs, once you’ve unlocked it, you now have the chance to get its variant (Centurion Ironside) in a req pack.
Yes, this is not the best solution as you still have to unlock things through req packs, but it is a step in the right direction.
So basically take the annoying part of reach armors and add them with the annoying part of halo 5 armors?
OR they could just go with Reach’s customization

When you put it that way… Kinda

Yep that should be the way

They could and should do that, but like I said, I doubt they will revert back to that as the current way of doing it brings in the $$$
The best way to implement the req system while maintaining the micro transaction layout would be to increase the options for buy able req packs. For example ad a gold silver and bronze armor pack with only armor unlocks, do the same for weapon skins, emblems and weapon certifications, this way people can prioritize the unlocks they want while still retaining the ability to pay for a req pack if they choose.

Just add a way to pay with points or money. its not that hard. Have packs for REQ cards, that is either money or points.

reach had the most in depth customization of any halo game. i think even the people who hated reach like the customization even a little
I just wish once you got he armors, you could customize more then 2 colors. And that the base skins of the armors would have a selection on whether to go with white lines around them or black or black in multiplayer, where base color is always red or blue, you could add something to be able to select if the model would be black or white or gunmetal, steel, silver, etc. So that it doesn’t get confusing, but you can have some sort of choice on how your Spartan looks. I like how in infection and firefight you can actually see your armor color setup, but I do think adding the 3rd color change would make customizations more fun for everyone.
Honestly I don’t see what the problem is. By my count I should have everything unlocked in the next month or so but I have many friends that already have everything. Yeah I know most of it is REQ filler but does it really matter? It took me 2 years to hit Inheritor in Reach which meant I had a stream of unlocks for 2 years. I know most of it is useless crap with Halo 5 but I quite enjoy the unlock stream and feel it’s a little shame I’m almost there already… but that’s just me. I would like to be able to customise the colour of the armour white paint though.
P.S. Reach’s customisation was freakin’ awesome

I dont give a damn if 343 need to benefit from it. Microtransactions shouldn’t be in the game period, and if they need money well maybe they should of had second thoughts about halo 5’s marketing scheme. People should be able to earn there armor through legitimate ways, and if they dont want to then they dont have to play the game simple. One example of this reach, and that kept a high population throughout.
