HALO 6 All But Confirmed for Windows 10 Release

So… apparently its as the title says. Its been all but confirmed by Phil Spencer that Halo 6 will be releasing for Windows 10 and Xbox. Im pretty excited

I don’t think that confirms. There current approach seems to imply that main entry Halo titles will remain on console. Seeing nothing past Halo 2 has been released on PC.

I think they will have some level of Halo 6 on PC, but limited like how H5G is only Forge & Customs.

Did you miss where I think almost every new exlcusive xbox game is getting the play anywhere feature (forget the name right now). In 2 and half years when Halo 6 releases I would bet it will also be on PC.

I will be very surprised if Halo 6 is not a play anywhere title like Gears 4 and most other exclusives announced at E3.

H5G’s forge is coming to PC…

Definitely not confirmed, but likely. I’m pretty keen, I hope they handle KB+M vs Controller well,

Those who choose to use KB+M will only match against other KB+M users.
Also Allowing PC players using controller to play vs console players.
Would be a cool bonus to enable KB+M support for the Xbox One for those who prefer it (would also be great for Halo Wars 2.).

So many questions:
Will the pro scene abandon 12+ years of tradition and switch to PC and KB+M controls for the improved aiming even while losing multidirectional movement/trhusting?
Will opening Halo up to the huge PC market usher in a new golden age of population?
Will Microsoft relent and take advantage of services like Steam to distribute the game or will they lock it down on the Windows Store thus causing possible issues and alienating a lot of people who can’t stand the Windows Store (I don’t understand it, it’s just another service to me, like uPlay or EA Origin, but I know people have had problems with GfWL in the past, specifically performance problems.) The windows store gets absolutely HATED on, I don’t think it’s fully justified to be honest but I hope they take this bad publicity into account.
Will they allow proper modding, above and beyond forge?
Will the community embrace a range of new players or divide further?
Will developing the game for both the Xbox One, Scorpio and the varied range of hardware that is a PC cause problems for 343?

I think the PC should get the MCC in a few years and the full H5G a couple years after that.
So H6 should drop in PC 4 or 5 years after Xbox Console.
I also don’t completely think H6 will be out this generation anyway.
I’d guess the next Halo FPS is a one off ODST or Reach type of title that may take place before current Halo 5 timeline.

I suspect it will be like Rocket League where you choose if you want Xbox or PC players or both. There was a time when KB M over controller would have made a huge difference, with the arrival of Elite controllers and hopefully the ability to use KB M on consoles that should be addressed to an extent.

Yeah I’ve seen a lot of people asking for the MCC on PC, basically lauding it as a cash cow for MSoft.

I think actually getting those older games to work well on PC and not have it be ‘another MCC disaster’ will take a lot of time and effort, when Microsoft is more likely to just push the series forwards with Halo 6 and bring this whole ‘anywhere play’ idea to life.

Yeah will be interesting to see how it divides the community.

Maybe everyone collectively shuns the KB+M in favour of the Halo controller experience.

Maybe people embrace it - dividing the community into controller only players and KB+M players.

One thing is for sure they defs cannot be matched together haha. The Elite is an advantage but not a huge advantage, you’re still aiming with the stick.

Agree 100%. I agree with the reply to our other user too. This play anywhere is going to be a main feature from now on.

I’d be fine with this. I’d additionally be fine with cross-play on cooperative/campaign modes and forge, as well as customs. However, all three should have toggles that dictate whether a lobby can have controllers, KB&M, or both. With the default option opting for segregating the two form factors depending on which one is used.

Why not Xbox One Halo crossplay with PC, but it requires a (MS(360/Xbox One)) controller to play?

I for one do not want cross server support from Windows ten and xbone
KB + M vs controller on the same servers will not only heavily favour PC users using KB+M but also based on graphical fidelity as well as Windows 10 machines as well

Releasing Halo on PC would be a mistake. The only Reason I currently own an Xbox is because of Halo, if they release it for PC, I no longer have a reason for keeping my xbox.

Halo players (to some degree) would abandon the Xbox and the game would be pirated on PC, so there goes some sales too…

Hardware sales would crash for sure
especially with -Yoink!- announcing two new consoles less than a year apart

It’s not as if Halo is a console seller anymore anyway.

I think releasing on PC would be fine. Honestly Microsoft really excited me with the E3 announcements of games coming to PC.

Really hopes this happens. I’ve got friends on PC and Xbox so being able to play with each other on halo and other Microsoft games is going to be great.
