Love the game. But have to call it like I see it.
There are 183 armor/helmet variations in the game as of now. For each unique piece, there are an average of 6 variants; nearly all of which are indistinguishable. This means there are actually 30. Thirty. Unique armor/helmet pieces in the game.
With loadouts it’s the same deal. I don’t want 15 different AR’s that pretty much function all the same. It feels like the number is artificially bloated just to fuel the REQ system with disappointment.
Campaign? It’s interesting to see the crossover in terms of re-used content. Fighting the same boss over and over with the same strategy several times just doesn’t cut it.
There are a crap ton of maps in this game. But let’s divide them up between original unforged maps and forged/remixed.
Original/Unforged: Remixed/Forged
Battle of Noctus - Escape From ARC - March on Stormbreak - Raid on Apex 7 - Coliseum (love it) - Empire Altitude - Fathom - Plaza - The Rig Dispatch (remix of ARC) Trench (forge/breakout)Total: 9 Remixed/Forged:
Basin (forge) - Eden (remix of empire) - Deadlock (forge) - Gambol (forge/breakout) - Guillotine (forge) - Antifreeze (forge) - Orion (forge) - Recurve (forge) - Pegasus (forge) - Overgrowth (remix of plaza) - Altitude (forge/breakout) - Truth (remix of midship) - Array (remix of Apex 7) - Regret (remix of truth) - Crossfire (forge/breakout) - Entombed (forge) - Dispatch (remix of ARC) - Trench (forge/breakout) - Trident (forge/breakout)Total: 19
In conclusion, this game DOES offer a wealth of content. But it is congested with mediocrity. No one bought Halo 5 to play forge maps. This isn’t Super Mario Maker. No one wants to play the same map over and over again either, disguised as a different map with different lighting and colors. The theme throughout this game is quantity over quality Keep the free DLC. I will pay money to get real, AAA quality maps in this game. This is a AAA game, not a community creation.
I for one don’t care if a map is made with forge or not. If they want to throw a ton of maps at me but they’re all forged, as long as they’re well designed, go for it. A map is a map. I bought this game to have fun, not play on pretty maps.
Also your listing of the maps in bullet form with no separators is totally nonsensical. I didn’t follow it at all.
EDIT: After hitting post I guess you updated it, or it didn’t display right for me, but your list makes sense now
I will agree about the armors though. Most are just rehashes to fill up the REQs. but then again, that doesn’t stop me from having fun.
To each his own I guess.
Past Halo’s wealth of content was also an illusion
Why? because you always played on the same 3 maps and evebody used the same 3 armor variants.
I respect your opinion and I even understand where you’re coming from but: This is the first Halo game where I know all the maps because I actually get to play in each one of them. This is also the first Halo game where I see people wearing different armors.
yea lol there are only a few armors and helmets that even look good in the game, and the fact that some armors have that stip you can’t change the color of…just WHY?

How about it’s fun? And Forge looks amazing? It’s the best shooter that came out this year. I mean really Battlefront has even less content and you have to pay for DLC. And yes COD came with its usual amount of content but that game is an absolute big heaping pile of -Yoink-. Sure plenty of people have fun with Blops 3 but that’s cause the game is ridiculously easy with one hit kill weapons you spawn with, easy gameplay with quick kill times, and stupid spammy killstreaks.
So for me Halo was the best of the 3 since Battlefield has fun gameplay, but barely any content and no campaign.
COD has a good amount of content, but has stupid unbalanced gameplay, and mediocre campaign.
Halo has IMO the best gameplay with a much better story than COD, but yes is lacking a bit of content but it’s free.
Halo>battlefront>black ops 3.

Look at some of the forum posts, some are still demanding remakes to be made! So what of its a remake or a forged map? Both your complaints contradict each other, you’re complaining about getting forged maps yet we have dev made maps + remakes. You’re complaining about remakes yet we have creative forged maps made. ? Find something worth complaining about like the broken Assault. Don’t get me wrong, the points you made about REQs and Campaign and the others I agree upon. But sadly no bueno for the maps

None of this stops me from having fun either. But sometimes BTB becomes an eyesore to be honest. And much more often than not, req pack openings are quite disappointing; because the REQ items in general are disappointing. There’s always room for improvement

If you go back to paid DLC what you will be paying for is a bunch of maps that you will never get to play. Paid DLC splits the player base and you can’t always count on a dedicated DLC play list. It’s usually standard play lists with a DLC option. Which is as good as guaranteeing that you will never play those maps.
There are plenty of non-forge DLC maps on the way. Be patient.
As for forge created maps in matchmaking - be patient here as well. The maps you’re going to see coming out of forge in the not-so-distant future will make the current crop of forge BTB maps look like the amateur hour that they are, and will give the “genuine” maps created by 343 a real run for their money. Mark my words.
I’d just like to say that Regret and Truth, at least, are pretty darn different from each other. Calling them “the same map disguised as a different map with different lighting and colors” is very misleading.
Even with the original maps, most of them play like garbage and are not fun at all. Some examples are Regret and Rig. Most armor variants are ugly and most feautre multiple variants which are nearly indistinguishable.
From past trends, I can suspect 343 will keep adding ugly armors and skins and thus the REQ pool gets diluted even more. It now becomes more difficult to unlock what one desires due to the bs rng system and those who spend money now spend more. Microtransaction sales go up and 343 laughs their way to the bank.

This. All damn day. While its nice to have an asthetically pleasing map, id rather have maps that play great, and i dont care who they come from, whether they are forge, or whether they are remixes. Also, while i understand the complaint about remixes, while they certainly do contain SOME elements of their originals, they all play different, and thats all that should really matter.
The self entitlement some of you have is beyond ridiculous.
I really don’t understand the point of you guys making thread after thread trying to point fingers or trying to find every little thing to use to rip apart this game.

Your mother is an illusion, now enjoy the damn game or get lost.
I want something original. I purchased this game expecting new impressions and excitments. I’m not really getting excited about new maps or even impressed by the current ones, because they don’t really look… “official.” It looks like 343 just gave Forge to certain people and asked for commissions.
I understand they are just maps, but it does affect how people feel about the game.
I really like the game, but the game can improve a ton.

The first thing he said was, and I quote, “I love this game.”
He’s enjoying it, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be improved.

They are structurally the same map. Remixes of each other. Calling them entirely different maps would be dishonest.
