So we’ve all at least tried to forge on Tidal right? I mean c’mon it’s the newest canvas, it’s nice and calm, but here’s the thing, the underwater kill boundary is approximately 5 inches under the water’s surface! This makes forging on the map ENTIRELY useless, whats the point of having a water canvas if you can’t go under? While I DO enjoy looking and being on this map, I can’t forge anything I want because guess what, it requires the player to be partially if not entirely submerged in certain sections! 343i I know you want to try and make the fans happy but please, stop with the overbearing kill boundaries, it removes the fun from forging. I’m not saying remove the kill boundary entirely, just give us a nice chunk of underwater space to work with, imagine the creations people could do if they had the freedom to build underwater.
i feel ya, i am trying to make a u shaped island but because they can’t go in water, it removes a key feature
build underwater? how do you mean? If they allowed you to build underwater, you would end up with a view that is most likely the same as above, judging by what it looks like if you die in the water… if you make a room underwater, the game isn’t going to recognize the fact that it should be waterproof, you would just have a really weird blue color or nothing at all.
Just place your floor a bit below the water level so you can give the illusion of walking through water, or partially flooded sections?
I can’t get mad at 343 because they don’t know what we want until we tell them. The Wasp is fantastic so we know that they care.
But yeah, underwater would be cool, especially with fog effects (toned down from Reach though) and a proper soundspace for underwater (or whatever tech Halo 5 uses for modifying audio).

But see that’s the thing we already have 3 maps that can be forged underwater: Alpine, Fathom, and Riptide, and Alpine and Riptide can have above ground sections that lead underwater, If Tidal had that within the map boundaries it would be the perfect Forge canvas, and as for what I’m trying to build, ever play ARK on the Center? There is a pretty bigh cove there that is a circled off island that has a beautiful lake, albeit a shallow one, no more than 9 to 10 feet deep, that I’d like to remake, but in order to do that I need the ability to work underater, enough so that the spartan can be fully submerged.

I see what you are saying, but that involves a lot more than just moving the kill zone down. I guess they could have made a room somewhere like foundry underwater, with it’s own underwater graphics looking out the windows… but I still think what you are asking for goes way above just killboxes because Alpine for example has ground you can walk out on into the water… Tidal is supposed to be in the middle of the ocean.

Even if they just made a sand textured geometry plane about 2 spartans deep and added the under water effect from fathom to the map would be enough

Actually the area in Alpine I’m referring to is outside the map, no solid ground, just ocean and fake mountains.
I made a map in Tidal, on the rare occasion that it loads (cuz of the lighting/loading bug crashing the game or lagging ppl out half the time) I was able to make it so your spartan can tread it shallow water. I also find it neat because if you want to build underwater you can escape fathom but I’ve always wanted a to half a somewhat flooded map and Tidal lets me do that. However, the fact that you can’t build on the islands does let me down. It should have been made like forge world.

Yeah, I just y’know wish 343i made a forge canvas that allows you to forge above and under water, I don’t see why a kill boundary is required, it’s a video game, not a simulator.
I’m making a beach/natural parkour map. I would like to have Spartans walk in some level of water.I think it will be a cool asthetic for the map and add the the “beach feel”
unless the water level is one milimetre deep, the Spartan will drown.
in knee deep water.
what the -Yoink-

Actually you drown in water that is about 4.5 feet deep, you only drown if your spartan is fully submerged while crouching.
