Halo 5's post-launch support to be huge(inferred)

Josh Holmes(Sal1ent on TeamBeyond) recently said on TeamBeyond that Halo 5’s post-launch support will be the most substantial out of any Halo title so far.

I won’t be surprised if that’s the case. They probably want to keep this game alive as long as they can. If they strike gold with it and revive the franchise back to its prime, then post-launch support would keep it going and keep playing, like the case with Halo 3. Halo 3 had a huge population going forward, especially because of the map packs, armor, and new modes.

Interesting. What exactly does that mean? DLC? Free content like Spartan Ops? Community events?

Well in that same post he mentioned “new content and experiences”. I’m curious about the experiences part.
In another post a little further he mentioned that they’ve had talks about a community playlist. Maybe community events could tie into that?

Well, a community playlist would only really affect forgers and gametype-makers. This seems to be something they’re trying to catch the wider community with. Maybe free stuff? Like the Bullseye pack from 4, but with greater promotion, scale and such?
As for “experiences”, that sounds story-driven to me. I think Spartan Ops is a likely candidate for that one, probably stretched out over a longer period to allow the devs to make more maps, differentiate the missions. That would help with population longevity as well.

This could mean a lot of things.

Obviously there is going to be map packs and probably some new game modes (Armor set DLC too?)

Whatever the third mode is (Firefight, Spartan Ops, etc) it will probably get some dlc too.

Last and least likely- We will get Campaign dlc. I’d love to see something like this happen for Halo but I guess we won’t really be able to know what story could be added until we beat Halo 5. Maybe we could get a dlc mission to bridge the gap between Halo 5 and 6 after a few years?

Then of course there will be the small things like events, community stuff, etc.

I do not want to see campaign DLC unless it’s a side story. I hate it when you spend $60 for 70% of a video game’s story only to then have to buy the rest of it later. I don’t mind maps and armor DLC, but not story. So a side story would be cool.

I’d like something similar to what ODST was originally supposed to be before it became a standalone 60$ release. A new campaign from a new viewpoint with new locations with some connections to the events in Halo 5. The characters would largely be new and different from the main game, possibly with some cameos. Maybe from an alien perspective. You’d play as an Elite from Swords of Sanghelios or Jul’s Covenant.

For multipayer DLC I’d prefer new customization options to cost money while new maps would be free.

How would you feel if the campaign DLC was the events of the next 72 hours comic? It involves characters in Halo 5, it would be a great way to let fans know what happened between Halo 4 and 5 that don’t read the books or comics.

I would prefer this also as we rarely ever get to play DLC maps in standard playlists.

There is nothing worse than playing the same 4 or so maps over and over even a year after release.
