I’ve read things here and there about the haze around what Halo 5 was really supposed to be. Between Hunt the Truth, the comics, and the ads that had nothing to do with the campaign in the final release, how much do we know about the original idea for the campaign? I’ve seen things claiming that the Didact was supposed to be the main antagonist for the Reclaimer saga. I’ve read that Mendicant Bias was supposed to be involved. I’ve read that Halsey and Team Majestic were supposed to have a bigger part in it as well. I would love to have a discussion about what we were supposed to get, or at least links to forums where I can read more on this mystery. Also, do you think these ideas will be used in Infinite since they were ultimately scrapped for Guardians?
wow some of the stuff you mentioned I did not know about, 343 wants you to read the books to get the answers.that is were some issues come in not everyone has time to read all books

This has… like nothing to do with the books. The things listed in the OP are conceptual ideas that were changed during development.

I mean there’s a huge amount to unpick here. Some of the narrative decisions made in the Halo 5 development are just plain puzzling. I still think the original Halo: Guardians (I drop the 5 as I think that’s where the issue lies) had phenomenal potential but by that stage I don’t think the differences from what we got are too huge.
At the time of Hunt the Truth, I firmly believe the story would have been presented far more as:
Opening: Fireteam Osiris (possibly still via Kamchatka) getting told they were tasked with hunting down Blue Team
Following missions: Increasingly building evidence that Blue Team have indeed gone AWOL/rogue as you follow/track them
Finally: Climactic final evemts on Genesis reveal the reasons for Blue Team’s seeming betrayal and flip to retrospective missions from Blue Team’s perspective.
Honestly the emotional journey that could have elicited would have been entirely awesome… just by mixing up the mission order

I agree with this. Wasn’t Spartan Thorne also supposed to be in Osiris in place of Buck? I love Buck so i’m not complaining, but it just seems like 90% of the concepts for 5 were scrapped, more so than normal in development, and it’s certainly felt in game.
if I’m not mistaken, I think that the halo doesn’t necessarily follow the stories in the books.
