Halo 5's new sensitivity controls

So since the new aim acceleration, inner and outer dead zones came into play, I personally think that it totally screwed my gameplay over. I honestly don’t know why it would. Because I tried to keep everything at default. but when I did I felt like my aiming and my reticle would go all haywire. And I have been playing halo since halo 2. I was a 48 in H2, and a 4 star Gen in H3. So I dont think its just because i’m getting any crappier, because even before this update I was ripping it up, and after the update I just feel like my gameplay has dwindled. I even tried tweaking with the new settings, I went from the inner and outer dead zone default settings all the way down to 0% for both, and it felt a little better but yet still felt off for me. Im just wondering if this has happened to anyone else after the cartographers gift update came out?

The update did not change your settings. It kept the dead zones at default settings.

I think you’re allowing yourself to believe something is wonky. Of course theres a possibility that the update messed up defaults, BUT you most likely convinced yourself that a guess is fact. Plus you keep fiddling with the settings. It will feel off to you no matter what now. Look up how to correctly set your look settings (or go back to defaults) and then play a full day on those. It will allow you to get used to it again.

I turned my deadzones to 0 and accel to 2. Fixed my aiming issues

Accel on 2 or 3 and deadlines on 0. Sens 10

Don’t let the placebo effect get you.

Change your sensitivity to 3
Change your look acceleration to 2
Change inner deadzone to 0%
Change outer deadzone to 10%
Works for me. Been playing since H1.

for sure there is something off about the aiming after the update. I will check into the acceleration setting and adjust it down to 2, and work on my deadzone settings based on my controller, but something def changed after the update. Totally agree with THIZBEGENE, I was a beast before the update (several riots, perfects, rampages, 1.89K/D…ect and now its so twitchy and just wont lock on for those perfect kills anymore. its soooo obvious my play has declined and I cant finish kills anymore, or even hold on the head anymore. ITS NOT JUST ME… ALL the SKILLED players I talk to agree that " something" changed affecting the aiming. it is NOT the same as before, just hope that I can find a happy setting somewhere to get back to normal (on target).

I completely agree with THIZBEGENE and VON my aim has felt completely different since the update.

I went from around a 1.6 k/d or so down to 1.47 which isn’t that significant but my aim was feeling very solid prior to the update and now it seems very out of whack.

if you change your inner deadzone to 0, the slightest movement will be registered, which may make aiming slightly more tricky.
try setting it to 5% or something and see if that helps.

also, it takes a long time to get used to any changes you make. like 10+ matches. so once you change something, stick with it for a while before deciding whether it is good or not, as it takes you a while to get used to it.

So MATT & VON,

I’ve decided that I just set the inner and outer deadzones to 0%, and Sensitivity ACCEL to roughly 4 or 5, and it seems to me that thats the best option for being as close as possiible. For going back to the way it used to be anyways. It still seems a little off still but thats the best I can do. I’ve tried multiple different ways which did not work out to well for me. It almost seems as if I probably won’t be playing much Halo anymore, It just completely ruined the experience for me. I really liked this damn game too.

I admit this is a game changer. I honestly hate the new aiming additions. I understand they are trying to make the game more PC friendly with the upcoming Halo 5 Forge for Windows 10 and what not. But this is ridiculous, why would they need to implement the same settings for a console game, it just seems silly. I have really bad analog drift now but setting the dead zones just interrupts my aiming in general. I don’t think I will stop playing but i will definitely play worse now.
