Halo 5's Music/Main Theme?

Hey everyone, vVvDARK WOLFvVv here… So I have been playing some halo 4 lately, trying to sharpen my skills for the up coming Halo MC collection and Halo 5. But I just have one question. What will the music be like? or more specifically, The main theme? Because as good as the music for Halo 4 was, it didn’t really impact me in the same way that previous Halo’s have.

So here is my question to the community

Should we continue in this new musical direction 343i has taken with Halo. Or should we go back to a more, traditional route, where we at the very least have the main Halo theme we have all known and loved since Halo CE? (And in some cases the updated versions in Halo 2 and Halo 3)

Personally, I think we need the halo theme we all know and love back. I could sit in the title screen alone and listen to the CE/2/3 theme for hours. But not once have i sat all the way through Halo 4’s theme…

What do you think community?

The old theme represented stopping the Halo’s from being fired, so that is what was played in the menus.

The new theme, called Atonement, represents the direction that the story’s heading in…

Learning from the Forerunner’s mistakes so that we don’t repeat them.

That being said, I’ll take the new theme any day. Plus, I thing the new theme has more emotion behind it. Once the strings set in, it surpasses the original theme IMO.

All I want from the soundtrack is less “digital” sounds. The music just doesn’t feel right in Halo 4. Exceptions to this are 117, To Galaxy, and Blue and Green. Other than that the whole soundtrack was just…wrong? I don’t really know how to explain it because it wasn’t bad music, in fact I enjoy listening to it on it’s own. I just feel it didn’t fit the game right.

I see where you are coming from on that. but as some one mentioned, i just feel like the new halo soundtrack, with the exception of a few songs, just doesnt fit halo. The classic halo theme just felt more impactful to me. I loved booting up my game and hearing that theme… it was, for lack of a better term, exhilarating, it gave a sense of scope, a sens of scale and magnitude of what was going on, regardless of the situation (bear in mind that halo 3 actually took place on the arc, and only went to The halo installation 07(?) in order to detonate it prematurely and destroy the arc.)

So while i see a new musical direction can be good. I’d just prefer an updated versoion of the theme we all know and love.

This… I think an updated classic theme (much like they did with halo’s 2 and 3) would be more fitting. because the master chief’s journey isnt over yet. And as I mentioned earlier the classic theme has more impact and much more exhilarating IMO and provides that sense of scope and magnitude. Plus. Lets face it, chief’s story isn’t over yet. Spin-off games, I am OK with different music, but if it is going to be part of the main story, they should at least update the music instead of just chucking it out the window like they did with halo 4

hmm… for some reason i thought that this would get more response.

I’d love to see Truth and Rec come back. I think Arrival and To Galaxy are two songs from H4 that are good enough to move on to future games, especially Arrival.

Hmm interesting. but what about halo’s original theme?
