Halo 5's Marketing Campaign might not be a lie

(This theory was made by me, originally posted on my Instagram page)

What if the Halo 5 trailers weren’t about Halo 5? What if they were about Halo 6 or 7? Think about it. Why else would they have such a misleading marketing campaign?

This would be a pretty smart move by 343. It would lead us to believe one thing, while the truth had been right in front of us all along.

There are some big clues, too. In the adverts, Master Chief’s helmet is cracked. In Halo 5, it becomes cracked after he fights with Locke. This could only be possible if it were set after Halo 5.

Another clue would be the back of the cover of Halo 5. At the top, it says ‘The Hunt for the Truth Begins’. Halo 5 isn’t the hunt. Halo 5 started the hunt - the Hunt for Cortana. Chief might go AWOL again, knowing that ONI doesn’t approve of his actions. ONI would see Chief’s actions as a threat, and send Locke to kill him. ONI would probably lie to the people of Earth, and all outer colonies. This would be the hunt for the truth. The truth of what Chief is really up to. But that’s just a theory… A GAME THEORY. Thanks for reading!

Glassed planets have bad records.

Interesting view. My prediction is that cortana will try to fire all the halos…but chief will have to destroy them all! OK that’s farfetched. But another guess is that they will use the flood as a weapon some how. I feel that we will see the flood again.as well as stand foot in another halo ring or 2

Considering a ring is shown if you complete Halo 5 on Legendary, the flood might appear again. Also, Chief will have to destroy it!

OP ive said this months ago but no one understood. but yea i agree with the commercials and everything being about halo 6

That’s similar to what I’ve said since release. However it is a misstep to advertise H5 with possible events that evolve from your actions in that game.

This theory has been suggested before, and it got debunked with a lot of points.

Really? Huh. What points were brought up?

These were advertised for Halo 5. Even saying “in Halo 5”.

I started looking for the thread when I wrote that.

Here’s a link. The better stuff is at the end of the thread

Considering that Halo 5 is just a set-up to Halo 6 and possibly 7, it is quite probable that the advertising and marketing are aimed at the rest of the series.

“What if the Halo 5 trailers weren’t about Halo 5?”

What if my ice cream shop didn’t sell ice cream? What if instead I sold pizza there? Or if I sold you the cups that could hold ice cream?

TL;DR: Stop defending their negligence. It’s sad.

Last I checked the advertisements said Halo 5: Guardians. Not Halo 6 or 7.

The Halo 3 Believe trailers said “Halo 3” on them and none of what happened in them was ever mentioned in the game. There was no week long battle for Voi. Chief was never near-martyred via plasma grenade.
Halo 4’s Scanned trailer also mentioned Halo 4 and yet, was Chief ever captured by the Didact?

Except those trailers were not designed to represent the games events and no one speculated that they were for future games. The h5 trailers are marketing halo 5. It’s just pointless defending at this point

I understand the theory but it makes terrible sense from a marketing standpoint.

Or maybe Microsoft realized it made a mistake highjacking the marketing and now 343 will have to make Halo 6 reflect the ads in an attempt to both please the fans and keep the masters at bay.

sorry… I never read a bad defending text of -Yoink!- \ 343i marketing like yours… I know its a game theory but… Actuall a kinf of fanboying

343I realizes the perfect cop out they’ve just been given.
Halo 6 ends up being the hunt the truth story, completely forced and detached from the events of Halo 5.**
The fans fail to see the obvious signs that the plot was a last minute change to appease previous advertising.
343I is praised for their “subtlety and nuance” in advertising.
I look on in disgust and become even more of an anti-343i edgelord.

**I mean seriously, how would it even make sense for the story to go back to that direction after they’ve already pushed it into a completely different direction? Do they just pull a Jul on Cortana’s -Yoink- in the first mission then brand Chief as a traitor and go from there?

Not to mention that approach to marketing makes no sense because even at best you end up confusing your fans.

Also I hate game theory.

Well then they weren’t advertising Halo 5, were they? -Yoink-'s sake dude, there’s grasping at straws, and then there’s this.
