There’s no way the fan base of Halo 5 will go away because of Halo Wars 2. Halo Wars 2 is a completely different type of game, appealing to those who like RTS games. Halo 5 is an FPS, and FPS shooters are always popular.
I for one am not going to play Halo Wars 2, and I’m sure there’s others like me.
I will definitely not be leaving H5 for HW2… couldn’t really care less about it.
I never played the original halo wars or the hw2 beta so I’m not switching over.
I hope no one will abandon H5 for HW2.
Nah, Halo 5 will retain its player base.
Maybe people that enjoy Halo lore, like myself, will play HW2. But ultimately, will play Halo 5 again after I finish HW2.
No way Halo 5 will die because of Halo Wars 2. Both will co-exist with each other.
That’s like me saying Halo Wars will drain out Halo 3’s population.
Based on all the posts here the past 15 months swearing to never purchase another 343 game I reckon we’re good staying with Halo 5.
I feel bad for the handful of people left that buy Halo Wars 2 seeing the online population will all be over on Halo 5 having a blast!
Coexist, Halo 5 is a micro transaction money making machine It’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
They will coexist, they’re both completely different games. Until Halo 6 comes out, no one is jumping ship (that hasn’t already) off Halo 5. I’m a Halo junkie though so I’ll be going back and forth and actually enjoyed HW1 and the HW2 beta was pretty fun as well.
Until Halo 6 comes out, I won’t be leaving Halo 5 while HW2 starts going about.
I still need to renew my Gold membership, but I am too lazy and it’s really cold outside… 
I think people are going to be still playing halo 5, but halo wars 2 will be good
I think halo 5 will be fine because a lot of other halo players don’t care about it halo wars.
Halo wars 2 is an RTS. Yes, people will play it but more will play Halo 5 im guessing. Me personally I’m just going to play it mostly for campaign, then do a LITTLE multiplayer every so often.
I am getting Halo Wars 2. I plan on going through the campaign and getting a few achievements but that is it. I will stick with H5. I want to see what the story brings and increase my Halo gamer score. I still have to grind out a few achievements in halo was definitive edition.
Both will mutally coexist, and Halo 5 will get a population boost as Halo Wars 2 will draw new and returning players to the Halo franchise, and people will give both the RTS and FPS elements a try.
I’m sure on halo wars 2 release there will be a sales promotion for Halo 5 guardians.
You’ll experience a drop in population, obviously. However Halo 5 is an FPS and HW2 is an RTS, so there’ll be those who don’t find it to their taste. Some gets it for the campaign and then they’ll be right back with Halo 5.
I’ll be spending a good amount of time on HW2 but i sure will return to H5.
Waiting for mass effect andromeda then I’m gone, no need to play a watered down RTS game 
people will come and go anyways, if a game takes people away so what, just means this one failed to hold an audience.
I believe that when the actual good games get released than we’ll see a huge amount of people abandon ship. Than once people remember what a good game is they’ll acknowledge that Halo 5 is a bad game. But seeing as people haven’t bought a good game since the Xbox 360 days apparently so I’d say that the time when games were actually great has long passed.
