Halo 5's in game graphics should be as good as CGI

Seeing as Halo 5 will be on the powerful Xbox One,
will the in game graphics look as good as Halo Wars pre rendered CGI Cutscenes, or Spartan Ops pre rendered CGI cutscenes, or the Halo 3 pre rendered CGI commercial, or the pre rendered CGI Halo 4 reveal trailer, or the Halo Xbox One pre rendered CGI reveal trailer?

Halo 4’s first and last cutscene used pre rendered CGI for the cutscenes, and only looks slightly better than Halo 4’s in game cutscenes. Graphics are catching up! If a last gen game like Halo 4 (xbox 360) had cutscenes almost as good as CGI, surely a next gen game like Halo 5 (xbox one) can pull it off.

but seeing as Halo 5’s in game graphics should be as good as pre rendered CGI,
it won’t be necessary to use pre rendered CGI anymore, and the in game cutscenes will look as good as the pre rendered CGI footage from previous Halos.
I don’t want to see any more CGI comercials or cutscenes in Next Gen (Xbox One), the in game graphics should be good enough.

I understand that CGI will always be ahead of in game graphics as CGI is pre rendered. But by now, in next gen, xbox one. I hope Halo 5’s graphics are as good as CGI from 2009 (right now it’s 2015). Next Gen’s in game graphics should be as good as last gen’s CGI! Furthermore, PS4 can run graphics that are 2009 CGI quality, look at Uncharted 4.

Uncharted 4’s in game graphics are as good as 2009 quality CGI.

The Xbox one is only slightly weaker than the PS4, so I expect Halo 5’s in game graphics and cutscenes to look as good as Halo Wars’s CGI.
PS4 can pull of CGI quality in game graphics, Xbox One should too.

Furthermore, Halo on Xbox One currently has some CGI quality elements. The Halo ring on the background of Zenith is in game and looks as good as CGI. And the Halo 5 spartans (not the ugly ones we saw in the beta) look CGI, hopefully their final models look that good.

It obviously won’t lol.

But last of us 4 can do it!

One word (well, three, actually): PlayStation 4

Uncharted 4’s graphics are nice, but they definitely aren’t on par with Halo Wars’s cinematics by any means. The same goes for any game that’s coming out in the near future, no mainstream hardware is capable of rendering that sort of graphical fidelity at a nice framerate these days, let alone a console.

Halo 5 will look very pretty, I have no doubts about that, but not CGI pretty.

No it can’t(I assume you mean uncharted 4). Seeing as gameplay has actually been released it doesn’t even come close. You have to go way way farther back to find good(for the time) CG that modern games have surpassed.

Its completely unreasonable to expect CG quality anything in game. Consoles are just now doing things PC have been capable of for years and it is not CG quality.

And the initial renders we were shown for beta do not look better than what we got in the beta. They are shiny and nothing else, they had no textures, just bleh.

The order 1886 looks pretty close though. It’s gameplay looks the exact same as it’s cutscenes(which look CGI).

No.

First of all, neither console is capable of CG-quality graphics rendered in real-time, especially at 60 frames per second. It simply is not possible. We’d have a better chance of 343 removing sprint.

Second, that Uncharted 4 reveal trailer looks as good as CGI because it is CGI. The trailer is running in-engine and is nowhere near representative of the final game. Sony’s gameplay trailer of U4 at PSX had nowhere near the graphical quality of the reveal trailer.

I totally agree .

halo need to have good graphics , i hope they can reach something like this CGl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blW40AVWXrE

Maybe halo 30 will have that lol

Well, that is because the whole game is a CGI film.

Man, you’re asking for a FPS, running at 60fps to have cgi quality graphics on xb1. You’re out of your mind.

The Order is running on more powerful hardware, at just 30fps, and is a linear corridor shooter, and it still comes up short of that bench mark.

Halo, in comparison is known for its open level designs , less predictable events, and free physics models… dont hold your breath.

I don’t think even the current top tier gaming PCs could support “CGI” grade rendering at 5 FPS or less.

but that game is designed to look that way and as a result runs at 30 FPS (Halo is an FPS so I’d rather 60fps with lower res) and it is only single player so that may not be the best comparison.

It won’t look as good as CGI. NOR does it need to. What Halo needs MORE than any shooter game is smooth and responsive gameplay. And 60 fps enhances that experience. Good graphics or 1080p does NOT. In fact it NEGATES it. Because the higher graphical fidelity or resolution you have, the more fps dips there will be.

That’s NOT to say that Halo 5 should have 360 graphics and 720p… No. It still needs to stay UPDATED in terms of “next gen” graphics/res. It just does NOT need to look the BEST.

Uncharted 4 and The Order 1886 look nice no doubt. But BOTH are running at 30 fps while Order is ALSO at 800p.

The devs over at Naughty Dog clearly said that they have achieved 37 fps. But are probably going to lock it at 30 fps IF 60 fps is too much and ends up harming the “experience.”

Well… based from that info, and based on what people have been saying and what ND does as a developer. It seems to me (and MANY others) that ND is more concerned about the graphical/look aspect rather than the performance/gameplay aspect of a video game. Another words, the “experience” is also the “cinematic experience.”

So they are trying to make the graphics of Uncharted 4 as BEST as they can. IF 60 fps gets in the way, then UC 4 will be 30 fps. Which it probably will because ND is trying to reach the graphical fidelity of the E3 trailer.

Because Halo is the way it is, it does NOT need to be competitive based from a graphical standpoint. It needs to be an amazing game with an amazing gameplay/performance. Which ALL Halo game has so far. And 60 fps HELPS with that. By making the game run smoother and making the controls more responsive.

Why does Halo need to be this way??? Simply because it is harder than MOST (IF not all) the shooter games out there… FPS or TPS. And I’m talking PURELY about the CAMPAIGN portion. Being a campaign fanatic, I KNOW what makes Halo extremely difficult… I have 6 or so solid reasons as to why that is the case… but I won’t list them here because that’s a whole different subject. But I will be more than happy to say them if any of ya’ll want me to. But back on topic… it does take A LOT more skill and experience to master.

And because of that, it needs an outstanding performance/gameplay. From a technical standpoint, Halo was never known for its graphics. It was known for its gameplay. And Halo 5 needs to continue that tradition.

I know I’m sounding a bit arrogant or biased towards Halo. But this is coming from someone who’s FAVORITE game genre is shooters. Whether it’s TPS or FPS. I know what other shooters are like… whether it’s The Last Of Us, Gears of War, Crysis, COD, Tomb Raider (2013), Battlefield, Titanfall, and etc. and how Halo is unique relative to other shooter games. Halo 5 will be unique as well… once again I’m NOT talking about multiplayer. Talking about campaign.

And in general for any game… I’d rather take smooth/responsive gameplay OVER good graphics/high resolution ANY time.

60 fps > 1080p
Gameplay/performance > graphics/resolution

Lol. Uncharted 4 looks and plays like trash.

Are you high or just stupid?

You do understand that actual CGI is created on huge farms of computers networked together called render farms, right? It can take hundreds of computers hours to render a single frame…

You think a single console will be able to generate CGI at 60fps…

You won’t get CGI graphics during gameplay for this generation’s consoles.

the beta has me worried that the graphics wont be that much better H2A’s. not to mention the game is aiming for 60fps and a higher resolution which means a ton of retooling and balancing in terms of assets and fidelity. Im going to tell you right now that if you really expect HD cutscene details like ryse, which BARELY ran at 30fps, on halo 5, RUNNING 60FPS, you’re only setting yourself up for disappointment.

(also, by modern standards, the xb1’s 8-core 1.32TF cpu/gpu set up is by no means that powerful. its a lower medium rig in comparison and is actually closer to 50% weaker than the PS4. which is why many games run at higher resolutions on ps4 (900p vs 1080p Is a difference close to 44% in pixel density.)

for reference:
1280x720 = 921,600 pixels
1600x900 = 1,440,000 pixels (nearly 50% the pixel density as 720p)
1920x1080 = 2,073,600 pixels (over 2x the clarity as a 720p image.)

Obviously not trying to diss the xb1, but facts are facts. im sure halo 5 will look and play well as it is, just dont expect it to be the crysis of the current gen.
