Halo 5s gameplay mechanics

I grew up playing halo ce when it first released and sunk countless hours into every single installment (except maybe reach) and as much I love the original trilogy, Halo 5 was damn near perfect they brought halo into the new generation while still maintaining the “halo” feel we all know and love… TLDR - Halo 5 was damn near perfect and I’d rather have that in infinite that classic gameplay. COME AT ME.

Personally I think a hybridized version of H5’s combat with H3 elements such as equipment and perhaps limited ADS would be a fantastic mix and would really help both classic and newer Halo fans enjoy the game.

Yep. I’m still enjoying H5.

I would be happy to give up spartan charge plus or minus ground pound.

And wouldn’t be against toning down sprint a bit.

But clamber, thrusters, and slide - love it.

There’s a lot to love about Halo 5. Can’t stand the story much, and I kind of wish it was a spin off instead of a main entry, but yeah, there’s a ton to love about that gameplay. 343 doesn’t get enough credit for making it feel so satisfying to play.

If classic lovers want they’re classic experience in campaign go right ahead but halo 5s multiplayer gameplay was phenomenal

Titanfall2 would be the king of advanced movement games imo, halo 5 would be next on my list of the advanced mob shooters I’ve played
My issues with H5 were never with the gameplay or even MP experience.

Outside factors like loot boxes, the story campaign and the squad system were the glaring issues from my pov. So had infinite leaned into the advanced mechanics even more so with the addition of the current H5 mechanics and added the grapple shot ect ect I’d been more than OK with it provided it was a satisfying campaign experience.

Having said that I’d also been cool with a classic experience with maybe a jacked up base movement speed along the lines of doom 2016 with just jump, melee crouch as the mechanics.

The hybrid gamply that was shown in the reveal I’m sure is perfectly serviceable but it seems rather safe and somewhat generic. But I’ll accept that that’s how it is and move on because end of the say the campaign story and overall fun factor are the things I care about most.

As a, side note the 10 year game plan may yeild an evolution of the mechanics along the lines of how destinys game play and abilities have dramically evolved over its life cycle

You’re right, halo is evolving with gameplay every game and, in my opinion, is going to the good way.

It’s cool that you like halo 5, it can be fun at times, but it feels nothing like halo imo. I would rather play any other halo if I feel like playing halo. If I feel like playing an advanced movement type of game. I’d rather play apex or titanfall instead of h5. I personally hope there are no abilities or sprint in multiplayer for infinite. It would be nice to get a new classic halo game.

You’re entitled to your opinion just know that you’re wrong and I hate you

I feel like H5s movement and abilities are great (aside from spartan charge) and should be brought into Infinite, though the physics for both players and vehicles feels really weird, like are spartans/vehicles supposed to be able to bounce against walls and such so easily? I think they’d scrape against walls and such quite a bit rather than bounce against them. Makes it feel like we’re toys. Also as Ceramic said, Titanfall 2 definitely had the best movement mechanics, and Id love to see some form of wall running in Halo. Alot of people are going “Br1Ng OLd gRap1c5 b4cK”, “T4kE oUt tH3 n3W f3AtUreS”, “iT d0eSnT fE3l LiK3 hAl0”, etc, yet fail to realize that these new things are what make the game great and games are supposed to be improved upon. As a Triple A game you can’t expect it to stay the same forever. Especially in this day and age where other games are getting so much better and popular that 343 needs to keep up with them. In all honesty I prefer H5s graphics and MOST of its design. Obviously they should have more of a Halo wars 2 type of Elite design than what they have in H5, as well as not so bulky/awkward looking armor with just a couple of variants with stripes added (Though some new armor sets cough Helioskrill cough Achilles cough are pretty great). H4s Customization was probably best cause you had actual different armor, more parts of the armor to change, etc. Also whats with the hate on sprint, out of ALL mechanics why sprint? Thats quite literally an essential mechanic for ANY FPS, especially with the big maps 343s making now. You plan on walkin your way across the Ark? And of course who could forget the story of H5 that everyone loves to hate on. Dont get me wrong, it sucked, but damn some of yall will say the ENTIRE game sucks just because of the story. I just hope infinite helps make sense out of whatever the hell H5s story was.

Well, too bad.

halo 5 mythic areana is the pinnacle of the halo series

Halo 5 would have been perfect if it hadnt had Spartan Charge or Ground Pound. Remove ADS as well and boom, you have a perfect multiplayer experience.

I did like what they did in the campaign with destructible walls and floors using GP and Spartan Charge. Just wish the story had been better.

Halo 5 was divisive to say the least: infinite sprint, Spartan charge, ground pound, thrust pack, ADS, stabilize, crouch jump, bad campaign and more. Again, 343 have gained some fans with advanced mobility, overall it has alienated the majority of it’s fan base and has severely hurt Halo’s popularity for it.
