Halo 5's File Share

To the people who complain about the fileshare: Do you even remember how Halo 3’s fileshare worked?

You had 8 Slots (20 IF YOU PAID EXTRA TO BUNGIE, FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO KEEP TRACK OF MICROTRANSACTIONS) to share any combination of pictures, maps, or gametypes you wanted to with your friends or people who searched for your gamertag and looked through your gamercard (you still had to have Halo 3 up and running to then get to their fileshare). If someone wanted to get a map that you created, you would have to put it in your fileshare, and then they would have to go through the system described above.

So, I ask, in what way is the current fileshare inferior in any way. We used to have a limit of 60 files, which has now been increased to 100(maybe? i can’t remember). You can also show what files are actually yours, and which ones you have bookmarked from others. How is this, in any way, worse than what we used to have?

I just see things all of the time like:

> PLEASE 343 GIVE US INFECTION AND A DECENT FILESHARE FEATURE LIKE IN HALO 3

In comparison, Halo 3’s fileshare is -Yoink!-.

There are some things wrong with this game, people. But the fileshare ain’t one of them.

It’s 2016… not 2007. The lack of a search, especially an websearch is the biggest flaw in my eyes.

This right here. I shouldn’t have to search by gamertag alone.

And you have no way to actually browse files in a file browser without friend/following them. Reach’s system was vastly superior.

In Halo 3 they had bungie favorites, which helped people find gametypes and maps every week without searching on the internet and adding a random person as your friend.

Halo 3 also had a system on bungie.net where you could download map directly to your console.

Halo 5 has nothing like that.

There is a full file browser on the way, the Forge devs have talked about is a few times on Twitter. No eta on it dropping though

Those are two things that are missing. But the bungie favorite is kind of like the community spotlight. The only thing really missing is a search option (which we’ve never had) and the online database, where you could download it from your pc. But you still had to do research outside of what bungie provided you with before. That hasn’t changed.

Right? Reach had it, I don’t understand why 5 can’t either. Especially since 343 has claimed and claimed again that they are trying to get these amazing forge creations they keep finding out to the public.

I loved the Bungie Favorite. H5 sorta has something like that. There is a featured Forge Map in each news letter/update they release on waypoint. Of course it doesn’t compare, but still.

That’s why people ask for a File browser just like Reach’s…

Just wanted to reply here again with some news I caught this morning - looks like 343 are bringing this back. Add the gamertag The343Favorites for some of their picks from the community. Info came from a daily message within the game

that was halo 3. take a good look at reach please and maybe even 4. halo 5 needs an actual file share system where we can just search a tag for a map and find it.

H4 had a great fileshare system

Yeah, remember that message on H5, well over a month ago now that showed the new Community Forge maps with a pic of Ivory Tower and it’s all like “look for these amazing maps we’ve found in MM!”

Still nothing… lol

343 just made a gamertag called “The343Favorites” they’ll be adding more and more maps and gametypes to it

You can’t share films in Halo 5. Which means I can’t create more community montages for Halo 5 like I did with 3, Reach, and 4. And that sucks butt.

It’s worse because you have to find the exact gamertag of the owner, then follow them, then go to the game, pull him up from your friends list in-game, then find the file.
In Halo 3, you had to simply search the gamertag, and there was a button on his profile to immediately open his file share.

Halo 5 has 5 steps that take time.
Halo 3 has 2 steps that are streamlined.

Also, most people don’t make the argue about the current file sharing system in comparison with Halo 3, but Halo Reach, which was infinitely better.

I never asked for a Halo 3 File share. I’m asking for the Reach file share.

That is not a solution.
