Halo 3 introduced the Recon helmet that was given exclusively to Bungie employees and to a small portion of the community whom managed to defeat a group of Bungie players in matchmaking or did something insanely great within the community. If you managed to unlock this vintage helmet, you’d get to show off all the hard work you’ve poured into it. Once Bungie revealed that you can unlock it by completing the Vidmaster challenges, most of the community came together to unlock the Recon helmet. One person would message a stranger to help them in obtaining the Recon helmet and after all that hard work would become great friends over Xbox LIVE. A veteran would be fascinated to see that he has unlocked a Recon helmet after contributing loads of content to the Halo community. A team would celebrate after defeating Bungie employees over Xbox LIVE.
However, it all died down in Halo 4 possibly due to the disinterest of the new unlockable armor and the dying population. There is still hope though! In Halo 5 Guardians, what will be the new exclusive armor?
It’d be pretty cool if the exclusive armor would be given out to those who’d pour most of their time into trying to unlock them and instead of just Recon, there’d be a variety of armor pieces to collect from which will lead to having to complete a variety of challenges in order to obtain them. This’ll lead to the community coming together once more to obtain them just like how it used to be in Halo 3.
There would be a couple of armor colors, armor pieces to choose from, emblems, visor colors, particle effects, weapon and armor skins, assassinations, and voices. More specifically, unlocking the Mark VI and Recon armor would be more difficult to obtain than the rest. Maybe Office of Naval Intelligence armor pieces and undersuit (the one Agent Locke is equipped with that has the blue stripes running down along his suit) would be the new thing? It’ll be cool to be fighting other Spartans with your buddies clad in black with ONI-equipped armor in full of secrecy and mystery. After all, it is a War Games simulator.
