there have been bosses in past Halo games. In Halo 2 there were 3 bosses: The Heretic Leader Elite, The Prophet of Regret, and Tartarus. In Halo 3 there was 1 boss: 343 Guilty Spark. Should Halo 5 have any bosses? Such as a Giant Promethean? Maybe a War Sphinx? Or maybe the Didact? And maybe the bosses will be more stratagey based like Metroid bosses? Since there were ex-Metroid employees working on Halo 4.
I agree, I’d like to see a boss battle. Not a complete bullet sponge battle mind you, but something other than just killing a bunch of nameless Covenant or Prometheans.
If what I’ve guess of the 2013 E3 trailer that the ‘winged’ Forerunner construct we saw is Mendicant Bias, then having Chief fight it would be amazing.
I’d like to see these types of minibosses. I can see the Didact being the primary boss - but not until at least Halo 6. John have already beaten him in Halo 4 and in the comics. Beating him in Halo 6 would diminish him as a threat further.
I can see Jul 'Mdama or Avu Med 'Telcam as potential mid-bosses.
I want to see a spiritual successor to the Scarab in Halo 5, and yeah- bosses in general would be cool, but they shouldn’t treat them like in some games where it’s a massive bullet sponge with multiple phases and all. It should make sense canonically. Regret was just climb, smack him in the head three times and you’re done. So bosses like Halo 2/3 would be great and more Scarab like giant enemies (like the Phoenix in the original Halo 5 teaser).
Absolutely yes. There is no reason why Halo shouldn’t have bosses. It’s not like they’re the IP of another game…
And to those who call bosses just a bunch of bullet sponges: I’d far prefer that to another “race against a nonexistent clock and then transition to cutscene”
This is one area where Halo absolutely needs to get with it, because the squad battles of CE-4 just don’t cut it anymore.

> I honestly didn’t like bullet sponge bosses in Halo 2. They were boring and didn’t fit into Halo. Fighting the Scarab in Halo 3 was awesome, though.
Bullet sponges do suck (cough Destiny cough)… Boss fights should be more like really unique gameplay moments that require strategy to overcome. Halo 3’s Scarabs are an awesome example. I also think 343 Guilty Spark was a nice boss (if a little close to being bullet spongey). Also, Halo 2 Enforcer Sentinels were solid.
