Now Halo 5 has better MP maps then most FPS now days but they are lacking veriety and the design does not feel Halo enough. Befor you say this is just another one of those Halo shoud go back to its old ways forums you r wrong. I’m just pointing out a mistake in the game so it does not happen in the future. Now back to the topic where Halo 5 messed up is most of the maps feel rather the same verticality wise, size, spaceing of cover. They do not feel exactlly the same and thats not what Im trying to say. But they need to be more like 1,2,3 and have mord veritey. Halo 3 is a perfect example of this look at how different Contruct and High ground are. Consruct is just about as vertical as they get and high ground is a very horizontal invasion map. They need more maps like Highgrond, Zanzibar, Gardian, Acenssion, ect. Where every spot feels different, looks different and offers for more different situations and would all around make it more fun. Im not saying remove simetrical maps compleatly but not nearly every map has to be symetrical. Warzone does a great job of this. Every map feels different (other then the bases) and that is what part of makes it so fun.
Another thing that the maps do wrong in this game that other games do much better is the maps do not have enough personalty or flavor. In Halo 3 it feels like the same texure is never used twice and sorry to say but even Halo 4 does a much better job at giving its maps personalty then Halo 5. It does not help that there are remixes and certanly does noy help that the majority of maps are UNSC. And even if they are it would be nice to see an urban cities, bunkers, beaches, and more cheracter overall. Plaza is a city but its not like it has a statue in the center of it or something cool. Like zanzibar has a moving turbine and the middle of assention looks amazing. Am I the only one that feels this way?
Yeah, for the most part the maps just feel like giant, segmented cubes… I like the maps a lot for the most part, but they do lack some character at times. Lots of human environments like you said…
I’d like to see some competitive Arena maps with some natural terrain, like a symmetrical map on the hard-packed terrain, in the ruins of Sanghelios. A Sunaion map would have lots of character too. Different from the usual H5 map.
And what gets me… 343 has loads of opportunities and assets to create these maps but they do not take advantage!
I think that is one of things Halo 5 missing since all the maps are all square.

false, Truth and regret are ovals

most maps are rectangles like Fathom, plaza, overgrowth, and Riptide.

well those are a given, the are remixes of each other haha. Im not disagreeing with the OP just pointing out a flaw in your claim.

yeah I understand that, should’ve been more descriptive at least.
Boring map design happens when you force gameplay gimmicks into the game. Sprint, thrust and clambor all contribute to Halo 5’s stagnant and uninteresting map design.
I like Coliseum and Truth. The others don’t have the Halo atmosphere. The forge maps in the Doubles playlist feel like Halo though.

Now now, I wouldn’t go that far…

I would say at least 50/50
They put out these maps, armors, emblems, etc., every month. That means they generally have a month to make any given thing (though they’ve demonstrated a willingness to accept when a month is not enough for some things). It doesn’t surprise me in the least that the Arena maps we get every month involve pre-existing pieces, or pre-existing approximate map layouts. It’s disappointing, for sure, but the gameplay doesn’t suffer, I don’t think.
Actually, “disappointing” is probably the best way to put it. I don’t know how many Halo 5 maps I will remember, in the years to come. I’ll always remember Rat Race, Boarding Action, Sidewinder, Blood Gulch, Terminal, Headlong, Burial Mounds, Containment, Zanzibar, Isolation, Foundry, Longshore, Spire, Boneyard, Zealot (hated that one), Swordbase, even Wreckage and Complex from Halo 4 (whose multiplayer I didn’t play much of). I may forget the names of the others, but their layouts are graven on my heart from repeated experience, and what’s astonishing is that through them all I have different memories of differing experiences.
Halo 5 Arena DLC maps, though, kinda just fall in the categories of Midship, Plaza, or, lately, Stasis. At least I’ll remember The Rig, Fathom, and Coliseum. Those are fairly distinctive, I think. And the Forged Big Team Battle and Infection maps are pretty wonderful.

Please edit your OP using these tweaks that I made within this quote here. Just copy/paste from my changes here, because your post isn’t appealing to read tbh.
I feel the same way, IMO Halo 5 doesn’t have a SUPER memorable map (Like Lockout was) Halo 5 maps are good but i know 343 can do better

I agree with both of you because it dosnt have to happen but it does because 343 wants things like Ground Pound to be useful on every map but even forge maps are realy fun when every once in a while ground pound is useless
Plaza has the best jumps.
Yeah the maps are one of the biggest gripes I have with the game. I don’t like that the “new maps” are always just remakes of maps already in the game

I would
I wish they could stop remixing the same map over and over again, the rest is fine with me
