I’m not positive about this, but the xbox 360 and Halo 3 came out at relatively the same time (2007). Again I’m not sure, but if this is the case, I’m coming to believe that Halo 5 should be coming out for the next xbox. Well . . . whats the importance? I’ll explain:
Usually, when a console comes out, it carries all the best equipment used from current PC’s (however they will be outdated in a matter of months, but that doesn’t matter now). If Microsoft manages to upgrade the new xbox enough and can come up with ways to make net code perfect than what if we could upgrade Halo to master a game with more than 16 players? (I’m not completely familiar with how bandwith and Packet loss rates/etc work but I have a general idea).
What I’m thinking about is a Halo with 32-40 total players and large scale battles, now this isn’t Halo so to speak . . . however there is a simple way to make sure Halo sticks to its roots along with overcharge its multiplayer experience.
Arena play
Battle play
(Names are not set in stone).
Arena play will include your classic gametypes (slayer, CTF, Assault, etc) and play just like Halo should.
Battle play would include huge maps and large player counts, most likely played with Territories and Invasion.
This way, the origional halo formula doesn’t get changed, but a new formula is placed next to it, and the two mix together perfectly.
Those who want large scale battles and massive multiplayer action can play that.
And those who want Arena style gameplay and the (most likely unless they have bloom and AA’s like Armor Lock) skillful gameplay can play that.
It favors both audiences and improves the game massivly.
Only reason I bring this up is because I have friends who would love this to be included into halo, I also have friends who would literally switch consoles if Halo could do this, so the idea has appeal.
