Why do most people hate Halo 5. I don’t understand why the story isn’t horrible and while it doesn’t have split screen it looks like a fun game. So why do must people not like it?
This has been asked before, but I can’t find the thread to link it here.
To summarize a few of my points in that thread:
- There were too many characters crammed into a single campaign, so none of them got enough screen time to flesh out their characters - The Chief only got three missions, and even in those missions, he had to share the screen with three other characters - Cortana is the antagonist, which ruins the impact of her death in H4 - The art style of H5 (and H4) is a wild departure from the art style of the old games, which is jarring to those of us who have been with the franchise from the beginningThere are plenty more issues with it, but those are three big ones.
As far as gameplay goes, H5 introduced Spartan abilities, which completely changed the look and feel of Halo. I honestly find all the mechanics to be really cool in their own right. But in the context of Halo as a gaming franchise, the departure from the simpler gameplay of older games makes Halo 5 feel like a bad Halo game, even if it is an independently fun game.
