Why is it so hard to level up in halo? I usually get 1st to 3rd in the game but I still get little xp, is there a way I can earn more without dedicating a full day to playing MP?
The only way to get XP is to play multiplayer (firefight and infection are top XP). If you are a lower rank, use RP boosts to get more packs (buy silvers until they are complete) and build up your XP boosts. Use a Boost every single game too

Actually, you could get credits in Reach from Custom Games, they’d just be negligible. You could also get large amounts of XP from Campaign.
In Halo 4, Campaign stopped giving XP, and I’m fairly certain that they gave a boost to XP rewarded in Custom Games.

Ya I know, I think you should be able to get XP in Campaign, Multiplayer, Custom Games, Forge, and possibly a new mode in future Halo titles. I like how Reach did it.

But you’re only level 31. It doesn’t actually get hard to level up until you get into the 140s or so. Personally, I think the exponential jump in XP needed to rank up at higher levels is a bit much. I think everyone was complaining about how easy it was to reach the highest rank in Halo 4, so 343 overcompensated a bit in Halo 5.
The XP payouts in Arena are kind of stingy besides Infection. It kind of forces you to play Warzone if you want to make decent progress with your rank sometime in this century. Use boosts and use them often. Also, play the double XP weekend playlists if you really want to help your grind.

And the ironic part is that the overly easy H4 ranking was also an overreaction to the complaints of long ranking in Reach, haha.
Maybe some kind of combination would be best, like keep Reach style ranks for an equivalent of level 1 to maybe ~145, and then just have an ongoing “number count” after that which goes on until forever.
This gives you some kind of realistic level to aim for completion, but also gives something a little extra afterwards for the super grinders to compare against.
XP is easy to get in H5. Just play multiplayer and you get XP.
