Halo 5/XBOX One X

So Halo is one of the games getting an enhancement with the soon to be released 1X. My question, what form will this enhancement take? Will I download H5 on the 1X then it will read the console and pop up an extra "update’? Will it be “pre-enhanced” for those games? Not sure how this will play out. Sorry beforehand if this isn’t Halo related enough.

It will be an update sometime in November just like any of the other updates we’ve had prior but only Xbox One X users will receive the update.

How will they be able to differentiate x/non-x consoles?

Not sure how exactly but they’ll know. If you don’t have an Xbox One X you won’t receive the update, if you do you will receive it. That goes with all 4K compatible titles.

I think that is not true. 343i said that the final Weapon Tuning would also be included in that update, so everyone will get it. We have already seen games that do this, Recore for example, added one mission and 4K and HDR support.

The 4K update is just to make sure that Halo 5 displays correctly if you have a 4K machine. Other than that, there won’t be anything else special about it. It’ll still be business as usual.

From what I’ve read, Xbox One/One S owners will download any updates, patches and bug fixes, while Xbox One X owners will download these plus the 4K assets.

Here’s the link on “Intelligent Delivery”: New Xbox One tech can save hard drive space and cut download times

Platform updates to the Xbox One OS now allow them to target specific devices like X1X only. Should be nothing special you need to do other then check for it one it releases and download it. You’ll download the appropriate updates depending on your system

I read that Microsoft are allowing developers to let us update what we NEED. For example, not having to download languages, or maps for an expansion we do not own, possibly 4K assests and so on. I’m not sure if this will be in force before the Halo 5 update, or what it will allow us to do, but it’s good to know it is on the way.

It’s called Intelligent Delivery. This System will check on which Plattform you are playing’. If you plug in an External HDD and copy/move Halo 5 from your Xbox One (S) to it and than plug it in to an X Halo 5 will ask you to download the 4k Update… It will remain as an extra Data Slot in your Halo 5 App in My Games and Apps (like DLC for other Games). If you, however, don’t have an Xbox One X, you won’t be able to download the 4k Update by starting the Game, except, if you want your System to prepare 4 it (The Option is currently unavailable, it’s too soon… You will find it in your Xbox One Console Settings…). The Extra Options with the Chunks of Data (like seperating Campaign and Multiplayer Data from each other and let u install only one of it) is up to the Developer. There’s a Video on YouTube by Digital Foundry. They will give u more, sort of in-depth, Information on it in this Video…

You all just answered my question perfectly. Thanks all.

What do they mean by 4k and what will it do?

Is it like something for computers or game streaming?

4k is 4k high definition. Its they amount of pixels in a certain area. Think of it like this, you have standard definition, then high definition, then 4k high definition.

For both and tv.

Correct

Now what about having both the 1 and 1x plugged up but using one at a time. Can they both be set as my home XBOX?

No. You can only have one Home Console… Otherwise u could simply buy everything Digital and spread thousands of Home Consoles and everybody could play from your 1 Purchase…
I think, you ask this, because more People than u play on your Xbox or because you want to keep both, right…?
Simply set the Xbox, you DON’T use (aka the Console your Family will play with) as your Home Xbox. Everyone, that plays on it, will have your Accounts Benefits (Xbox Live Gold, Digital Games and DLC and so on), even if you’re not signed in. The Xbox One, that u play on, will still have the Benefits, as long, as you’re signed in on it. So u would have to be online for this Console to work for others as yourself.

So you don’t even need to be connected to an xbox one to play halo 5?
